They are part of the City ownership group and isn’t Peps brother there ?

Sadly not much of a fairytale to me anymore than City are.

Sorry Boris didn’t mean to upset you, any comfort I still think you will win the league again this season but not so sure about Girona.

Girona aren't bankrolled in anything like the way City are.

CFG own 47%. A Bolivian businessman holds 35%, and Pere Guardiola owns 16% - but the club is very much running on its own resources.

City first bought in 5 years ago, after they'd gained their first ever promotion to the top flight, but the club had already put the hard miles in after making it back up to the 2nd division after 50 years in the semi-professional and amateur divisions.

Even now, they're by no means one of the biggest clubs, either in terms of transfer expenditure or wage bill. Their wage cap iirc is 14th in the division, and much closer to those of the minnows and relegation strugglers than to any of the teams vying for Europe.

They've used more CFG players in previous seasons, but this year they've got as many loanees from Barça (2) as they have from the entire City Football Group.

So in reality there are massive differences between CFG's approach to City and their involvement in Girona.

Good to know the City group only own 47% and Peps brother 16% my mind is now at rest as to the authenticity of Girona and I apologise for any previous misguided opinion.

So just who is the owner of Girona?
Is it a group, or just some wealthy loner?

It is a fairytale though in the same way City is.

Two trash nothing clubs that are punching above their weight thanks to money.

Well it was a homa match for Barcelona. Their fans still call that ground camp nou on their watch alongs

Gurina are owned by the same owners as City.

No way they go from fighting relegation to winning La Liga and wiping the floor with Barca. Inevitable that some cheating is going on here as City owners just don't know how to play fair.

If people believe that Villa can win the PL then they can surely believe that Girona can win la liga. I mean its not like they dont have the resources.

Would be great but can’t see it. Haven’t watched any La Liga but Real seem to be lacking a striker (too reliant on Bellingham to score), Barca aren’t playing to the same level as last season (Lewa’s in poor form) but Atletico seem to be doing ok.

Sure, it’s unlikely they will win it, but to say they can’t is a bit arrogant. Their home form is up there with the best in PL history and they’ve shown they can go toe to toe with any team in the PL. They’re fourth favourites at around 14/1, I reckon Leicester were still around 1000/1 at this stage of the season! Villa are far more equipped for a challenge than Leicester were on paper.

Leicester’s achievement was incredible but it was luckily a poor league that season. It had a pre Pep City, a third season Jose, Liverpool had only just got Klopp with a squad he didn’t want and Arsenal were bottlers. Spurs were probably at (or near) their best at the time and probably should have made more of a challenge.

If Villa are to win it they have to beat a Pep City, a Klopp Liverpool and a solid Arsenal. A big ask but their form this calendar year has been very impressive. The key will be how they handle the pressure.

The coast was clear for Arsenal to win the league that season, probably was the final straw for Wenger. .
