How has the tide turned? As a non United fan, I'm not seeing the clips you're talking about and I'd suggest most average footy fans aren't either.. so maybe United fans would be ok with it but if the general public opinion isn't then the sponsors won't be alright with it either.

I guess that's not to say the club won't bring him back anyway and hope that the mainstream media forget about it cos football

Just a note. I've amended the OP based on your comment. I should have mentioned the possibility of the tide turning and know the original OP seemed to suggest it had.

Perhaps I see it more because of the social media algorithms being a United fan.

“Even though I've stated all that above I can't help thinking that I'm pleased he's seemingly doing well in Spain and he's keeping his head down. The human side of me wants to see the young man get some kind of redemption“

I don’t think he’ll ever get redemption just from playing well on a football pitch tbh, maybe for the fans of the clubs he plays for for a bit.

I've probably not made the point I was trying to make all that well in truth! It was meant to be a point about how PR can impact people and also how fans can be swayed.

No I agree, like I said I think that’s may happen for some people who support the clubs he plays for and the power of football as much as social media.

I don’t think it’s redemption as such still, more acceptance from some.

I have certainly become ambivalent, before I was certain he should not play for us again. But my stance has soften for various reasons, first are we punishing his wife and baby. Second, there should be redemption for all. Alsp probably social media. And finally, and selfishly, if he's back playing well, why not for us who have been paying his wages.
But I know if I heard the recording again I'd be on the other side of the fence.

Right! One or Two on here want to know why i have issues with this old fool!

So with the numerous Greenwood articles we’ve had on here MU52 was dead against Greenwood ever playing for UTD ever again!

I was always open to it! Yet he questioned my morals, he kept going on about the audio, even when the charges were dropped, he said because Harriet and her family came from a council house background that Greenwood had paid them millions to withdraw!!!

And now on here on and another article that yeah he’s apologised about it and his wife being punished!
But if he heard the audio again he’d change his mind!

What does that say about his morals?

Too true the club should only be Sullied by the owners, the crap state of the stadium, the crap over priced food, the shiiite pre match build up some old tw@t like a cheap piiis up DJ, the imposible totally uncontrolled car parks to get out of, the lack of any screen for VAR, seats packed in like Sardines, toilets from Cell block H and a minor problem the leaky roof from the Cvnts who are just about to trouser 1.5 billion while still retaining total control, please Jim don’t do it, pull out and leave the Cvnts to think about the true value of what they have. The only way he could redeem himself is if he scores the winner in the world cup final.

No, I don't want him back either. The point I was trying to make was that I do think there is a sort of PR campaign going on to facilitate a possible return.

Yeah watched the game. Was completely unplayable in the 2nd half. Everything Anthony is not!

That being said he had absolutely zero defensive duties. I think that's how this team is set up tactically but damn didn't track back once 🤣

Getafe has been the best possible landing spot for him. Instead of cowering when the negative responses came they doubled down on their backing of the player (plenty of social media PR, yes) and the move. Now everyone is past it and focused on the footy as it should be.

Unlikely to play for us again... But it's our loss really. He's going to go on to become a great player with or without us.

Have a feeling the Greenwood/United story isn't over, especially with the new ownership. Ratcliffe and co. have a big decision to make there.
