Are you sure that they are not trying to help out both drivers? Yes they talked about Button there, because he was the focal point of that interview, as it focused on his new contract.

I hope next years car can propel Button or Hamilton to the title (can do without another Vettel title win) and of course Whitmarsh would say they want to build a car for Button when Button signed a new deal to stay at McLaren.

You must adopt one as a favourite and ignore anything positive that the other does. To do otherwise will make you most odd.

I don't understand all the negativity around Lewis at the moment. Why is he expected to put anything on the line given that he can't catch Vettel and his car isn't competitive? Button might be performing well, but there is very little to compete for. Come the start of next season Lewis will be interested again, but it's asking a lot of a very competitive individual to drive to the limit despite having no cause to do so.
