TBF to Sheridan, they did play well. Their GK probably should have done better with our 2nd and 3rd goals, so yes, he had a point.

Poor old Prof...just can't see the evolutionary advantage of an extra digit or two...Then again you dee dums are closely related to three fingered sloths....

touching up your next of kin isn't an advantage spart. I'm sure a twist on the shocker does put a smile on your mother's face though

So yet another potentially interesting thread descends into Dingle v dee dar inanity. Remember when we used to play well under Laws and yet always lose? That's where Shezza is at the moment. Whereas Meggy believes in the Jimmy Sirrel quote: "the team that wins is the best team and all the rest is just talk." A very wise man was mester Sirrel, even if he did look like a demented squirell.

(Did you see where I got the subtle dingle reference in there?

Sheridan's just trying out a new excuse. He usually just blames the players, to an extent where he makes Megson look like the Fairy Godmother.

Oh, and six fingered mother sister kestrel etc.

I think it's just frustration that they're playing quite well but not taking points.

The game on Saturday seems like a carbon copy of their defeat against Charlton: the goals were scored at the same times and they had good spells. They don't seem to be turning possession into chances and chances into goals though and, if you get beat 3-1, it's hard to see how you can justify saying you should've won.

They gave us a battering in the JPT last year as well.

Sheridan didn't just say his team "outplayed us" he insisted his team "totally outplayed us" which was a ridiculous claim. We dominated the first half and deservedly went 1-0 up. Chesterfield had an excellent 20 mins at the start of the second half, playing some neat, flowing passing football but couldn't make it count. Madine's goal did come against the run of play. They scored for 2-1 but then Marshall tore them to pieces, scoring one, blazing another chance over the bar and almost converting another at the death. It could have easily been 5-1.We had more possession, created far more chances to score, and knocked 3 good goals in. How that sits with being "totally outplayed" is beyond me.

Some good answers on here to my question. I wasn't at the game, couldn't listen to it, so I was just curious to know how a team that lost 3-1 could have totally outplayed their opponents.

I think JS ( bless him for winning our last trophy) Must have got the runs on Saturday. As he missed all the first half where there was only one team in it and then got off the seat to watch the first 15 minutes where his team did do much better and then alas he had to run again to loo and missed the end.Poor chap cant get off the loo and talks a load of poo.

Stratedgy of lifting his players for their next game ?

Just seen the highlights. Their keeper will be disappointed with the goals he conceded. Can't really comment overall as haven't seen the full match.

Maybe they will take points off others

I'm all for passing football but is it easier to tap the ball around mid-field or score goals?

Judging by our recent performances, I'd say scoring goals.
