Would you rather not have it and remain business as usual under the Glazers?

Personally I would have rather had the Qataries than Ratcliffe but I will take him for now.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
VC firstly Happy Christmas to you and all.

I would have rather had the Qataris because it would have given us the complete reset we desperately need , debts wiped, huge stadium development and true positioning amongst City, Madrid and whatever Newcastle will become, it was the Golden Chalice.

When you look at Golf, Cricket or whatever just now this type of investment just blows everything else away, a 25% stake from Jim leaving the Glazers still with the bulk to milk benefits nobody but them and to me still leaves us in an indecisive mess.

What could have been an immediate solution is now years of protracted share haggling, possible future fall outs and a lack of clarity with the Glazers still calling the tune no matter how it is dressed up.

So I can only say I’m underwhelmed almost by everything , the ownership, the buy in, the players, the manager, I still love the club but how the feck did we end up here from the absolute pinnacle of the game in 1999, I blame SAF for part of it, we didn’t invest when we won the treble and we all know the “ no value in the market” period and then his awful appointment of Moyes who dismantled his entire legacy in six months.

It’s a long road from here VC I wouldn’t sack ETH just now we need to get to the end of the season and then face facts, it’s up to Jim if he rates him or not but I can’t believe he will stand for the money we have thrown away on Onana, Mount, Antony and I don’t want to say it Rasmus.

I just read our scouts valued Antony at £25m only months before we bought him for £86m. Mental they valued him so highly.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sancho is about that too now I believe, you couldn’t make it up
----------------------------------------------------------------------
ETH has devalued Sancho by making his spat so public so nobody will touch the lad with a barge pole.

"CORRECTION: 24 December 2023 - This story originally reported that the 25% stake was purchased for about £1.25bn, when the correct figure was in fact £1.03bn" - BBC

If he'd have waited 2 more days he could have got another reduction in the boxing day sales.....

On Boxing Day he'll be in the queue at customer services, waiting to return his faulty item.

Hope he has kept the receipt

Merry Christmas to you!

Fantastic points!!

Nothing about this deal
Excites me. The Glazers will
Hand over football dealings to Jim so they get no more smoke directed their way, but carry on milking us

I have zero problem if the glazers keep making a fortune from us if the on field stuff improves. Maybe they finally made a smart decision to hand over the stuff like football control that doesn’t really matter to them to someone who can make us better.

And I genuinely think the Glazers won’t interfere. Just be a silent partner who continues to see the money roll in.

I’m not 100% convinced the Glazers will stay out, until now they have always insisted on the final say on transfers and there seemed to be a clash of opinions within the Glazers about what to do with the club. I wouldn’t be surprised if those that never wanted to sell have some kind of ego where they think they still deserve some kind of say on footballing matters.

Hopefully there’s some kind of rule in place that stops them having any say.

They own 75% of the club. How in the name of god can they be a silent partner. They’ve already pulled the wool over your eyes clearly with this investment from Jim.

As others have rightly mentioned, this investment means nothing, in fact in mine and pretty much everyone who sits around me at OT’s opinion, this is worse than just the Glazers owning us, as it is even messier than it previously was, whilst also giving the Glazers a shield now in Ratcliffe.

This just confirms to me more years of mismanagement, blame, excuses and financial issues ahead I feel.

As someone already said, how have United ended up in this position, compared to where we were prior to the Glazer takeover, it genuinely is quite unbelievable from a business perspective.

Seems to be a lot of optimism on this board that Ratcliffe will start to turn the fortunes around in a football sense, is this based on anything in particular?

I know he’s got a foot in the door but don’t see much changing while the leeches are still here

Ratcliffe is a big fan of Graham Potter apparently. Wonder if he'd be the next manager if Ten Hag is moved on.

He’s done very well at Nice after a rocky start.

Something that's being looked over here is the addition of Jean Claude Blanc to the board (presumably as the chief exec?). It's arguably the most significant addition the club's made in the past decade...some genuine sporting brains in that position for the first time since Gill left.

Yeah I’ve just looked, 2nd in the league, decent stuff, his Swiss team aren’t faring too well mind
I just find it a bit of an odd one, he’s a lifelong United fan with a ST at Chelsea, a club he tried to buy outright not so long ago

They don’t own 75% of the club. They owned 69% which has now dropped to 44%.

The Glazers are still majority shareholders in the club. But this is the path away to getting rid of them for good hopefully.

He will be gone soon enough mate.

Sir Jim ratface the brexit loving pollution ponce will see to that
----------------------------------------------------------------------
As well my ETH uncertainties Baz , under my Green and gold Christmas Sweater I have written in permanent marker, Brexit loving pollution ponce on my under vest for rat face Jim supporting the Glazers, hopefully when Hojlund completes his hatrick against Villa he will pull up his shirt to display the same.

It’s a tricky one though because we want Ratcliffe to succeed but if he does he will more than likely make more money for the Glazers who will then be less likely to sell their shares.

With reference to Robbsies thread ( he filtered me because I suggested he was being an ar$ehole). Isn’t Plumpy and Hippo the same poster?

Not sure it was me one of them called a Pedo. Could have been though as I get called all sorts on here by the weirdos.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No I dont think they were the same poster VC. Hippo was was much more clever than Plumpy. Plumpy also didnt write articles. He still doesnt under his new name. Yes, it was you he called out. I found found the thread that he lost it on. It was after a game at Spurs that United won, when he really hoped that United would lose... hoping the manager would get sacked.
