Yep, I’d have thought so👍
Btw Jonty, it wasn’t me that 1* this article … and to prove it, I’ll now give it a 5* 😁👍

He looked half decent in the FA Cup game v Cardiff last season. Would have thought he'd be fine at this level.
Did we actually pay £5m for him or was that his valuation when he came to us with the Kalvin deal?
Times I’ve seen him play he’s not been that good really.

We all have that problem 🤣 (Stoopo - only joking, honest!)
Not even joking but I can't see that much difference in terms of footballing ability between Gyabi and that Lavia chap Man City let go to Southampton at the same time, and who Chelsea then signed for £50m+ last summer.
I guess Farke's just not been convinced by Darko from day one and preferred his own players in. Simple as that.

Well, we'll never know how Gyabi would have fared playing a full season in the PL as he didn't. Just trying to point out how ludicrous Chelsea/Boehly are splashing their cash more than anything.
He leaves in January 100%. Can't see him sticking around just to play U-21 football.
Gyabi for me has never looked mobile enough
Southampton splashed out on several Man City youngsters and recovered all their money on Lavia. They still have Bazunu Charles and Edozie playing for their first team. Edozie looks a star of the future and a player i saw play once at elland road and thought wow we should sign him.
Looks like the scouts got the wrong one
Pep hero worshipped Marcelo (rightly).
Marcelo fired February 2022 by Radz & Orta.
Several months later Pep signs Kalvin (July 2022?).
Fleeces Radz & Orta for 5 mill for Gyabi.
Pep's revenge?
(Half joking. Half not.)

Ok.
It was reported that we agreed a deal of £42m, possibly rising to £45m for KP. Darko was part of that deal which suggests we didn’t actually pay City physical money for him.
So who valued him at £5m? City? Leeds? Or Phil Hay?
It’s just a pity he’s not turned out to be anything special for us.

"No clauses have been inserted into the deal so City have not agreed a fee that they can buy Gyabi back for, nor will they get any percentage of the next move that the midfielder makes. While that is unusual as far as City are concerned, the upfront fee is sizeable."
With Celtic out of Europe could we flog Gyabi and bring in O’Riley?

Excellent thinking.
We know the club wanted O'Riley in the summer.
He would be a top drawer add with or without Gyabi
in the deal. I hope he's on our radar for January.

That answers my question. He wasn’t part of the Phillips deal and we paid £5m for him (although LUFC say undisclosed)
Seems we turned down €5m for him in the summer. Maybe a loan this January is in everyone’s best interests.
