Might be because they have another half decent team in with them. They don't seem to have that much experience in their squad based on caps. Only 4 have made 25+ appearances.

The last tournament Qatar hosted didn’t do too badly
Don't you Ronaldo fanboys think it was fixed though?
Ivory Coast to win the African prize and South Korea the Asian one.

Hopefuly Mo and Son play in the finals and lose, and Spurs/ Liverpool struggle in the meantime.

My team in the AFC ON is the DR Congo. They're pretty much always the dark horses in this tournament. So much talent but very little organization within the whole national team structure.
I've been watching them since I was a kid after my dad who's originally from there took me and my bothers to South Africa in 1996 to go watch them in the AFCON.
Great childhood memories those

Thank you.
Ridiculous timing for European leagues, where nearly all the players ply their trade, but it is what it is.
Interesting point made the other day that by having these comps at this time of year, especially AFCON, it is a disincentive for African players to be bought by the bigger teams in the bigger leagues, who will be relying on them without missing them for up to 6 weeks mid season every 2 years.
Surely it is not good for the development of the game in these countries/continents.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The problem is that the "summer" in Africa is when it rains constantly. That is why it is held in January.
Not fair to the African players

Maybe.....just maybe, the whole world doesn't revolve around Europe and their dates for things.
Yet in terms of African football most players play in Europe, were developed in Europe and desire to play in Europe. So maybe it should...
It really depends where in Africa it takes place. It doesnt rain constantly in January in many parts of Africa. For example currently its midway through the dry season in Ivory Coast.

When it rains in Africa, it is Monsoon weather, not the silly little storms we have here for the most part.
June to September
Thanks guys, that is Toto singing in my head the rest of the day.
Qatar vs Lebanon is the opening game of the Asia Cup, today at 4pm...
Australia 0-0 with India at half time might explain why their odds were long.
Australia came good in second half to win 2-0.
China and Tajikistan drew 0-0.
Uzbekistan and Syria are also goalless at half time.
Cote d'Ivoire open the AFCON at 8 against Guinea Bissau - live on Sky.
Didn't even know that was still a thing
