I don’t think that’s strictly true. From what I’ve read he is a good defender, good in the air and pretty quick, but his on the ball data is pretty average - certainly not on Romeros level. However, that is where proper coaching comes in and Ange earns his dough. I’m sure this lad will be pinging it around with the best of them soon enough.

I suppose it's a compliment for Spurs and an act of desperation by Utd but it's utterly ridiculous that this situation is allowed to occur.

All players taking part in the African and Asian Cups should have the same cut off date.

Judging by YouTube compilations (I know) he likes to ping a long ball but I've not seen much to suggest he's especially good at ball-carrying or shorter passing between the lines. But that's OK - Romero and VDV are great at that. It's good to have different profiles as options, and there's always space for a more simple/rugged defender

I've seen a video of him pinging it over distance. He has it in his locker but he looks like a good defender. Has been playing in a back three so might need some adjusting but so did Micky.

Most of that still holds up. It's worth remembering that he is still banned from football worldwide. There's no doubt that his little black book has opened doors in Italy but I think it's a bit of a grey area to discover who is truly responsible for a recent upturn in recruitment targets. For instance, our real game changing signings that have made a real difference lately are Vicario, Maddison, VDV and Bissouma. You can only really give credit to Paratici on one of those targets. Now it might be that the scouting system he's put in place is responsible for everything. I know he's overseen a huge change in the scouting ops so maybe I was wrong, I'm happy to hold my hands up on that one but let's be real here, anyone that signs Emerson for 30m, Gil for 25m + Lamela and has criminal proceedings over his head (aside from the crime of signing those two) deserves to be questioned.

Ultimately we have vastly improved our recruitment in the last year or so so I'm happy to be wrong if he is the man behind it all but we can't know for sure. Honestly, a lot of it is down the Ange. It's amazing how much better players look under a good manager. We've just not had one for years.
