Couldn't agree more.
I would like a left back and right back but assuming the powers that be don't want to risk our promotion challenge on the basis of players with sustained and repeated injury records, I think they will get one player on loan who can play both positions.
Curious to see many of our rivals are making moves in this window getting players in and contributing right out of the gates while time marches on and the fixtures tick down.they seem to have a more proactive view of the mystical beast that is the January transfer window
Boro - Ayling
Hull - Carvalho
Stoke - Cundle / Iverson
Sheff W - Beadle
Plymouth - Philips
Blackburn - Ayari
Huddersfield - Radulovic / Matos
Ipswich - Travis / Sarmiento
Bristol - Murphy

Which teams and which players 🤷🏻♂️
Phil Hay speaking on The Square Ball Podcast the other day said he'd like us to sign a left back and a right back and I think a number 10, during this window, just like a lot of people on here, either on loan or a permanent.
I wonder if he plays football manager.
Can't see us signing anyone. We have Bamford and Rutter solving the CF and 10 issue, whilst have plenty who can play full back. We look very light at CB but can't see anyone coming to sit on the bench behind Rodon and Struijk so .....
Would like us to go for Whittaker at Plymouth and a cheeky effort at nicking Rowe from Norwich (Cash in on Gnonto)

Kebab has listed them and suspect there'll be more to that list over next few days.
Only see one rival on there, and two players who wouldnt get on our bench 🤷🏻♂️
If Creswell goes out on loan/permanent, with Struijk having some unfortunate injuries recently, you have to wonder what our defence would look like if Rodon were to sustain an injury too. I'd agree we are pretty good for attacking options but the biggest area of risk is the defence and that is where I'd be looking to make moves.
Think we need a LB more than a RB. Byram played well at LB but would probably be even more effective at RB. Firpo worries me.
Id say we need a striker too ideally. A fox in the box type. Defoe type. An alternative to Bamford unless he sees Joseph as that

If we sign one of these, which two not playing Bamford, Piroe and Rutter
I would think we will only sign a FB or possibly a CB if Charlie goes but the club are not looking to loan him out and his wages are a stumbling block for any sale, the manager likes Firpo and thinks he can do a job in this league so a replacement for Spence would be the option.
As mentioned why would we sign a striker as they wont play especially if Bamford is having his second coming,
Gnonto leaving might cause us to look but it doesnt seem like hes going but hes only a bench player and what people dont realise is PL clubs wont send players on loan to not play so getting the right player in is an issue.

Well Piroe and Rutter are playing as a 10. I like Bamford always have but would be shocked if he doesnt pick up some kind of knock soon. Plus it gives you another option from the bench. Full back more of a priorty mind you.
Rutter played all season up top.
Whos coming to sit on the beach
Id sit on a beach for nowt
Rutter better at 10. That leaves you with Bamford, Piroe, Joseph and Gelhardt. The last 2 have barely featured and probably would benefit a loan away to get some game time. That leaves you with Piroe, Rutter and Bamford. Bamford is injury prone and Rutter and Piroe not really 9s from what we have seen. There is another space for a forward unless we start to use Joseph more.
Who of any quality is going to come in, when likely wont play 🤷🏻♂️
I am sure Firpo and more so Byram can do a job if not better. However, what is it about their injury records to date from an availability point of view that suggests they will play for enough of remaining fixtures without further cover/ options for a top two push.
It also has a further knock on impact of continually playing Gray at right back which as talented as he is has been exposed in a few games.
Somebody like Connor Roberts from Burnley would be a good target. Another Welsh player with 50+ caps and would surely come into starting line up.
If no signings happen then play offs most likely outcome.
So basically a lottery.
But another season in the championship may be a good option to build something that will last. If we do go up this season it will have to be a massive clear out to have any chance of staying up imo.
Phil Hay/The Athletic saying we're interested in Ben Johnson, West Ham, can play RB or LB. Also interested in Burnley's Connor Roberts.
Neither seem to be playing much football at the moment.
