Yeah

Surely Cantona, Keane, Beckham and Ronaldo are guaranteed greats?

To be fair, from the Fergie era it's a bit ridiculous how many superb players we had across all positions through his reign.

Keane I've mentioned. Cantona is difficult, he was great for us because of his influence, maybe not quite great as a player, but I'm happy to include him. Becks another difficult one, almost but not quite imo.

Cantona would be in there for me just because I used to love watching him play.

Irwin .. deservedly in the 'greats' category but also possibly our most underrated player of the past 30+ years

Id mention Martin Buchan and Bryan Robson and consider Mark Hughes and Paul McGrath in the great list from the post Busby/pre Fergie era. I cant think of anybody else from that time who I would consider an actual 'United great'.

Apart from the Shankhill Skinhead of course.

Ronaldo, was he great for us? Maybe in his last season or two, so I'll include him.

I reckon our second, or even third, best XIs could give and other English club's best ever XI a game.

Yes, Martin Buchan I think, and I forgot him.

He was here for six seasons (in his first stint) and great for three of them. Those were three of the best seasons from any PL player and all ended with a title. I'd say he was great for us.

without stretching my mighty brain (or memory) too far, and in no particular order or choice of 'side', my 11 v 11 would be:

Schmeichel

Parker
Vidic
Stam
Evra

Best
Charlton
Rooney
Giggs

RvN
Kidd

EvdS

Neville
Rio
Stiles
Irwin

Coppell
Scholes
Keane
Ronaldo

Hughes
Law

when you consider that misses out the likes of Cantona, Whiteside, Stepney, Heinze, Buchan, Sadler, Macari, Pallister, Robson, Wilkins etc., (and oodles of others) that would walk into the starting line-ups of the club's closest rivals, it can be better understood why United have been the most entertaining team of the past 55 years I've followed them - just not so much in the past 10 ....

Good list. Of course I don't agree with all, but that's the fun of it, everyone has a slightly different view.
