Jota is a great player, surprisingly good in the air too.
Nunez is a donkey, he has the physical attributes but doesn't know when to run most of the time and when he does run he'll often run too early and be offside, his finishing is erratic at best.
Top CFs are really hard to come by these days though.

Hazertz is terrible too
You don't have to delude yourself about a players quality just because they play for the club you support
Nunez might miss some sitters but he is far from a donkey.
Id actually say Nunez was key in both those games we had so far without salah, in fact vs w ham he was key to.
Personally I think hes great, rivals only judge him on his goals or lack of....but we know that his link up play, pace and assists are one of the reasons we ate fighting on 4 fronts, and our rivals are not!
Darwin Núñez has the second best minutes per non-penalty goal contribution out of any Premier League player this season. The Uruguayan averages a goal contribution every 92 minutes. Only Diogo Jota averages more with a goal contribution every 89.9 minutes.
Fair play on the stats then for Nunez. I'm genuinely just judging him on watching Liverpool games, always seems like he massively lacks a football brain. When to run in particular.
There’s a video compiling all our goals this season. There’s at least five where players have scored from Nunez’s rebounds. Our subs having been changing games all season, and part of that is because Nunez has run defenders into the ground. His work rate is superb as is his movement and there’s still so much room for improvement.
There’s only about four players on the planet Id swap him for.

I really haven't thought much of him when watching your games (rate many of your other players though).

It's a great point, there is no metric that measures a player's "tirdness" as such, all liverpool fans know that Nunez is an absolute beast when he faces defenders, as you point out he tries the defence out and klopp usually makes subs, and we score....I dont think its any coincidence liverpool lead the way in late goals, a contributing factor is the relentless effort of players like Nunez; it's fantastic to watch.

Id actually say I can understand where you are coming from because as an opposition fan who maybe only sees us a few times here and there and maybe motd highlights what youll see is the sitters he misses etc.
Id agree he is incredibly frustrating at times. His touch can be atrocious and his finishing is simply not good enough but the crux of the matter is ultimately, are we a better team with him on the pitch? The answer is most definately yes, for all the reasons most above have pointed out. He is an absolute handful and must be a nightmare for defenders to play against.

Good comment, guess not something you'd see when tuning in for odd games and just looking at the individual performance.
I'd go so far as to say that if we'd had Nunez during our peak mane Salah firmino years we would have more than 1 PL title. Our problem then was we were too predictable and if it wasn't working then we had no change up. Nunez just brings chaos and I'm not sure he always knows what he is going to do let alone defenders. Plus his strength to pace ratio is about as good as any striker in world football and is so hard to defend against even if he isn't playing so well. Agree about his decision making on runs though. If he sorts that out then really look out though as he will be lethal (if he also learns simple finishes)
Offsides and finishing....sort them out and ur looking at another Halaand type.
Nunez has been unlucky tbf , some great goalkeeping hasn’t helped him

Hoody - which 4 players who you’d take in his place?
Mbappe, Haaland and Kane for sure.
Then there’s players I like a lot like Vinicius Jr, Son and Isak.
But with Benzema done, Lewa nearly there too plus Ronaldo and Messi no longer around there’s so few with his skill set and if he does put it all together (and I think he will) he’ll be right up there. We already have Salah.
Apparently he’s absolutely ridiculous in training, just needs to find some calmness on match day. It’ll come I reckon.
