Well we made unnecessarily hard work of that! 2-0 up and cruising. A mistake by NML (not a foul as some thought) and the defence holding off led to their first and then Elder all over the place for their second (tho credit to their loanee for tucking it away so well.) Many complaints floating around about Hourihane until he scored the winner. Shows it's better to wait til the end before venting.
Difficult to choose a MOM but between Bird and Barks - maybe Barks for scoring the first and creating the second.
All played reasonably well, I thought, except Elder. His lack of match play really showed at times so no real fault on his part.
Still we are in a great position and just need a couple or three in.

In my opinion tonight he didn’t contribute to either of the first two goals and was a big part in us dropping so deep, not captain material for me, fair play for scoring the winning goal but realistically we wouldn’t have needed that if the midfield wasn’t being overrun at will, a fair portion of that down to his seemingly lack of intent
I agree that midfield rarely looks entirely cohesive but I do wonder whether our methodology is such that it does not matter so much which players occupy the midfield berths because of the way PW asks the team to play. Vidal has often referred to this style whereby our CBs play diagonals to the flanks and our FBs play straight balls to their respective flanks so that midfield is very often bypassed. This can seem one-dimensional and the oppo have no difficulty knowing how we will play but complain as we may the truth is PW knows what it takes to win in this League and so far it is working. LR may well have provided more varied football, more easy on the eye football but would he have produced a regularly winning team?
Well that was a bit of a phew. Too tired to comment further right now.

My absence from the cold country of Britain has once again produced a victory. I have appealed on behalf of the club we all love for fans to support my efforts to spend winter in warmer climates but so far none of you appear to love the club sufficiently to provide me with the resources. Sometimes I am ashamed that despite knowing that me being away leads to victory upon victory but you still won’t commit money to aid the club.

We did our best to chuck the game away. Yes it could have been a foul on NML for Burton's first but the error by Elder was a shocker. A very routine home win became one we nicked, the positive being that recently we have won games from a variety of situations which can only build confidence.
My lads and I had the Hourihane conversation before and during the game. I haven't always been his biggest fan but as we walked to the game I said I knew why Warne likes to keep him on the pitch for as long as he can. Slightly better individual quality can be the difference - which other player would have been likely to control his shot at the death? For Warne, what he brings outweighs what he lacks.
I don't know. I tend to think that if you have better overall control of the game that you are less likely to need these moments. We were the better team overall but made unnecessarily hard work of it. I thought Cashin was the pick yet again though Wilson was extremely good. He looks a tremendous signing.
This time last season Plymouth, Ipswich and Wednesday all looked very slick. I don't think we are quite at that level but then no other team is either, except maybe Peterborough. It's there for the taking really.

I refer you to my earlier comment. Can't recall exactly but it was a good one.
I think if it had been Fozzie in Elder's position (assuming hed got 'done', he'd have somehow managed to bring him down. A red card, obvs, but no goal either.
Thoughts?
Down to 10 men and we probably lose 3-2 instead!

Namibia produced a huge upset against a previous Afcon Champion team, Tunisia. Let’s hope it’s a blip and they continue to fail to get out of the group …
Agreed Fin.
Out of curiosity anyone scouting players during the AFCON tournament? Namibia have anyone else that could do a job at L1 level and above?
