In reality, apart from the free-kick (and he had 8 months to practice them!) he was pretty poor. Carragher even said, as he announced the MotM, it was always going to be Toney no matter what.
He was off pace, gave the ball away a horrendous amount of times, got booked for late tackle etc. Very much a performance of someone who hasn't played competitive football for 8 months.
The storyline clouds judgement.
Eight months out. Scores a goal first game back and is MOTM. Time needed to get back up to speed in the Premier League - none. Comments about tiredness, needing more game-time to be at his best - none.

Or maybe it was one game, one where he was playing at 110% for lost time-caused by his own idiocy... And it’s not like he’ll have been sitting about playing blackjack, he’ll have been training the whole time.
Yeah, but he displaced the ball before the FK. - not sure where he got chalk !! That should have been Varred(new word in the dictionary).
Crossed a white line when he bet against the rules to get banned
Moved a white line on his return to the game.

If Toney did that for us, would we be complaining? Sometimes I think we are just too nice to the opposition.
Absolute cheat! VAR should have ruled that out.
I think what he did was rub his hand on the white spray whilst it was still damp and then re-marked the ref’s line.
Cheating without doubt.
Meanwhile in a different universe, Firpo still has a dead leg, Coops has trained for a couple of days and may be available. Struijk will be out until after the Plymouth game with a PSG (Pascal Struijk groin) issue. Gnonto is out with a WHU (Willie has us) where he wants us rumour and the search for a left back will continue for another five years.
Not long ago, it was Brentford in the Championship and Leeds in the Premier League.
Had any of ours tried that, it would have ended up in row W and the taker ........ followed by a retrospective ban 👍 did I miss anything? 😅
Saw a few muppets whining he moved the ball ffs. Happens every fackin game but Toney is a criminal for doing it

No it doesn't. Shouldn't have counted.
Bit OTT op, it’s one game. Beware the bounce back. In horse racing a horse that has been out for a long time will run above expectations on his first run back then quite often flop next time round. Not saying it’ll happen with Toney but it’s a bit early to be declaring ‘he’s back’.

I generally frown at the cheating in the game because the authorities have the wherewithal to help stamp it out but don't so it continues.
In this case I think it shows great ingenuity. Such a move will henceforth be called doing a Toney.
So many people to blame - the ref, his assistants, the 4th official, the keeper (who checked the wall after he moved it), all the players in the wall none looking at the move, all the rest of the Forest team, the guy at the end of the wall that shat it and jumped to his right...all more to blame than Toney who is just a regular cheat like the other 21 on the field.

Moving the foam twice to create a better angle after the wall had been set up was the issue. VAR are supposed to check every goal and should have disallowed it.
I’ve watched football a lot and never seen that done before. You can bet nobody will get away with it in future and that goal was crucial in the game.
Blatant cheating that was so obvious it was laughable.
Yes players move the ball at free kicks but never, it seems, when the ref puts a marker down.

Bizarre you are taking such issue with a player and team that is not in competition with your own and when every player cheats to gain an advantage. Are you new to the game?
Players reposition the ball to get out of a divot or to get a particular face of the ball to strike through, but ive not seen a player use the foam and move the ball twice to reposition it. It was enough to change to angle and beat the wall. Cheating and should have been spotted.

Why shouldn’t I comment on a player cheating no matter what league he plays in? It’s nothing to do with who he plays for but the fact he not only moved the ball but repositioned the refs foam twice as well. That’s blatant cheating and it should have meant a yellow card and retake of the free kick.
Also, the last time I checked this was an open forum where we can discuss anything to do with any player or team .
