You do understand the notion of different teams hace different styles and need the right players for that style too work ?

A big striker with no mobility, wouldnt work in this side.

Its simple as that
----------------------------------------------------------------------

the days of every team wanting a big burly forward have gone, they have to have an all-round game and fit into a certain style of play, lump it up has died out
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yup

You cant educate pork though.

we’d have a squad of 50 if it was up to some 🤣🤣🤣

----------------------------------------------------------------------

We'd have gotten promoted the first time under Bielsa if he had 50 players but we skimped it, as many on here would have done 😉

I'm watching the man city game, boring as watching paint dry. 70 min into the game and haaland scores with citys first shot. Man I wish I could get the Ipswich game.

What a save. All Ipswich

Wow. Thanks kammy. More action and excitement in extra time than the entire man city game.
Good for us, we're now in third place even on games.
Now to take care of business and hope for some more positive results.

Well, they dropped two points, so not too bad. We're on front on goal difference now

Not even bothered about Ipswich, its us and Southampton battling for 2nd.

Level on points better GD and same games played now. Now we need to start hunting down Saints, could Hudds do us a favour today? Doubtful I know but we can hope!

Sooo. Ipswich are on the same points as Leeds - 60 points each - and played the same number of games, but we have a better goal difference 26 to their 15. This season is such a roller coaster. 3 teams all fighting for 2nd place and I can’t imagine it will get any easier on the nerves as each game is played.

Needless to say, we HAVE to beat Rotherham today.

Two things to mention.

Since 1 Jan we’ve caught up more than anyone could have hoped for:

As at 1/1/24
25 games played

Leicester 62 pts
Ipswich 54 pts
Southampton 51pts
Leeds 45pts

As at 10/2/24
30 games (31 Leeds)
Leicester 75
Southampton 64
Leeds 63
Ipswich 60

Yep, Leeds played one more game, but we were :

17 behind Leicester (now 12)
9 behind Ipswich (now 3 ahead)
6 behind Southampton (now 1 behind)

Second thing, if home form of top teams is almost a given, away fixtures matter, especially against the top half teams.

Remaining Away fixtures against other teams in top 9 places.

Soton 4 : Leeds, Leicester, West Brom & Leicester
How many points out of the 12 possible will they drop?

Leicester 3 : Hull, Leeds & Sunderland
How many points out of the 9 possible will they drop?

Ipswich 2 : Norwich & Hull
How many points out of the 6 possible will they drop?

Leeds : 0 fixtures!
Not dropping any points.

That‘s where this will be decided.

You might be right! Southampton obviously don’t have Leicester twice, did you mean Ipswich?

Soz, yep I meant Ipswich. Those 4 matches are a tough ask to get many points from …. surely !

Since December I looked at Southamptons fixtures and thought Feb and March is going to be tough for them. They have 2 games a week from now until March (including a midweek game when we don’t play)!

For us the long travel to Swansea and Plymouth will be a huge test.

Technical question for A14 (others?) … how do you re-post this existing thread as a new thread but still keep all the old comments?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I usually click on the “alert the moderator” and then sent a message to them saying put the article on top of thread as live games - they usually do within minutes

Not very technical
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok, that’s fine. Thanks anyway (and to Mont)👍

We have Saints on the final day, oh boy what a game that could potentially be. Just need to be within 3 pts or better.
