Initially a loan deal before permanent signing ✍️ in the summer
£300k loan fee
The Smith deal appears dead due to a 'astronomical' loan fee requested+ majority of his salary.

Decent blend of tea?
Bronte's, Boycott, Brownlow's. And that's just the first B's that spring to mind.........
So if he's on loan I'm guessing he won't be able to play against Charlton ??.?
Terry, I have been trying to fathom the reasoning behind the strange details of this transfer but I reckon you've hit on the rather crafty nature of it from Charlton's viewpoint. I'm sure we have still to play them twice so making CBT unavailable for those two games is a shrewd move.
It's said that he WILL be allowed to play against Charlton. I think the details are more to do with staying within a business plan.
It also sounds as though Smith might well end up coming to us after a bit of a game of bluff from both parties.
He’s unstoppable for us in the first half of the season.
Will have a field day against Charlton right back ( Tennai Watson)
Regards the Yorkshire reference
Dickie Bird
I quite like Mick McCarthy ( I never used to but he's grown on me over the years)
So the loan fee is initially the transfer fee meaning he'll be our player at the end of the season. Its to allow him to join now and also to work around our business plan with the EFL (which is due to expire in June)
I think there's better out there than Smith. Not sure if I've mentioned it but a German acquisition or two to this side and achtung baby!

Indeed he can and we play them twice in Feb!
CBT feels as though he was Warnes main transfer this window and due to the structure of this [and other incomings ???] we are still operating under some kind of business plan... either EFL or self imposed...
