Losses on the cards?

3 games in 9 days is nothing - teams do 3 games in 6/7/8 days all the time. I mean between March 30th and April 6th Spurs will play Luton (H) West Ham (A) Forest (H) - 3 games in 7 days.

The fixtures themselves are a tough run, Villa, Liverpool and City is very difficult.

You nearly always beat us at home though and the worst I can see for you there is a draw. Wolves at home - can’t see you losing it but yes they might grind out a draw like they did last night. Palace are shiete - you should be winning that.

I suspect you will get the job done tonight and face Liverpool in the final - one off game where you might do it on the day and secure Europe

Why would you feel the need to discredit one to highlight the other?both are poor runs.

Chelsea have 4 games in 12 days.
Spurs have 3 in 7 days. Both are awful runs.

Both are normal runs, very very normal. If you get back into Europe next year you will regularly be doing 3 games every 7 days.

Chelsea and Spurs can cope, I’m surprised you are so invested in this

This is nothing new, surely. Once Europe gets going again a lot of teams will be playing weekend/midweek/weekend/midweek.

Spurs played Sunday/Thurs/Sunday/Friday back in December. No dramas! and none of that was preceded by 10 days off.

im suprised you are.
It's a tough run where i'm expecting losses and I done an article on it. Don't know why me or chelsea would be such an attractive proposition where you cannot help but comment on it.

I can't remember in my lifetime chelsea ever playing a tuesday night and friday night. Ever.

Saturday lunchtime, tuesday night, yes.
It's also unprecedented because it would have been better for the club to have played this weekend instead of a needless two weeks break.

It's like leaving all your coursework til the night before its due.

also theres nothing to show this team can cope. We've had one game a week and have had unprecedented injuries.

It’s neither, i am commenting because I find your exasperation of having to play 3 whole games in 9 days a little odd when Chelsea would have played 3 games in 7 days only a couple of years ago.

Why has it reared its head now - because you have made the League cup semi final - that’s what happens.

Spurs once had to play Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on a Saturday lunchtime having played Thursday night in the Europa - 2 games in 40 hours

Surely there must have been plenty of times in the past where chelsea played on the wed night in the champs league then again on the saturday at say 3pm. This season for example arsenal played on the wed night then on the saturday played burnley at 3. Thats even less time. Not really seeing the issue.

Nick, i agree its likely the squad will struggle against Villa & Liverpool, due the lack in the strength in depth of the squad and the quality of opposition they face.

But seriously it is also true we have no European football to take into consideration.

I think this issue perfectly illustrates the nonsensical way the club have put this squad together & raises genuine concerns regarding the Boehly- Clearlake strategy/ vision of to develop the club imo.

Simply put, the squad lacks balance, strength in depth.

Fancy putting a Chelsea related fixture congestion article on the Chelsea board FFS!

Under Jose, in 2020, we played Sunday, NUFC(h), Tuesday (home vs Chelsea, EFL Cup), Thursday (home, Europa League) and the Sunday again, away at Man United, PL.

Now that's congestion ! 4 games in 7 days and we beat chelsea along the way

So I have never done a marathon in my life.

But if I do 2 in a week it will be tough.

It would still be 2 marathons my whole life, But would be 2 in a week.

Sanctions, new owners, new team, 3 managers and a temporary one, worst year ever (since when was football measured over a calendar year?) And we still get to a wembley final before them. I guess I'd be a little bitter, may they brew that there.

First game navigated well. Chillwell got some rest and some subs were able to be used with gilchrist etc.

Will be interested to see the line up on Friday.
