I'm more concerned with firepower. We still look short up top to me. Son isn't getting any younger and we haven't really got an adequate replacement lined up. Maybe Nusa was that guy but losing Kane was one thing but in a couple of years we'll be without both Son AND Kane. I really think we'll feel it then if we don't start investing now in some top talent to take over.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think we'll save a big chunk of money for a summer striker buy.
If we can get a midfielder in now, then with a few sales like Rodon, Gil, may be GLC, our summer should be all about a striker, and then may be a few back up positions if others move on, like Sess/Hojbjerg/Skipp
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Problem is that with Sonny being so versatile, if we lost him to age then that's two positions to fill. Central striker and left forward. Plus strikers are at a premium right now. Every big club is looking for a decent one and there just aren't any left anymore. The birth of the false nine has diminished the growth of the out and out striker. We're going to need wide forwards that can score like Sonny and they're hard to come by.

As Strike says, £35m, maybe now if they're desperate
----------------------------------------------------------------------
At least you wouldn't have to worry about him being cup tied I guess
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No but you lot should be worried if he wants to play Champions League football at some point in the near future
I don’t think we’ll sell to you unless its a big money offer we can’t refuse.
I think he most likely signs a new deal or we flog him off to someone like West Ham for £45-50m in the summer.
Just read Chelsea have to raise around £100m in profit by mid June for FFP, which is risky if they do not sell anyone in January.
No idea how true the figure is but best to wait and see how desperate they are by Thursday.

I wonder how an owner like Levy would view this.
Personally I would not want to be helping Chelsea out of this hole. They can keep Gallagher and we watch them struggle or sell off their assets.
After new talks this morning, Pierre-Emile #Højbjerg has decided to stay at @SpursOfficial in winter! He rejected all offers.
📍His lawyer Lars Halgreen told me now:
„Despite rumors and noise the player always kept focus on helping the team, coaches and Tottenham. The player never asked to leave now. He’s very ambitious for Tottenham and Denmark. Continuing to keep improving himself, like he did all his career. He’s a strong character and player, his only focus is Tottenham to finish the season well and to help as much as possible. Pierre always liked challenges.“ #THFC

With the above news looks like any move for a mid will wait until the summer unless we buy young like Wharton at Blackburn.

If that's true then Gallagher will go because he represents pure profit on account him being being from the academy. Anyone else they sell won't generate much profit because any funds they receive will have to be offset by how much they paid. The only other one I can think of in that mould is Reece James and they wouldn't risk flogging him. Despite his injury record he's by far and away their best player.

I think that's good news for us. He's a really useful asset, particularly in tight games where we look like we're losing our grip on the game. He's a calm, mature head in a team of kids really. We're lucky to have a man of his calibre on the bench.
I know some will point to his error at the end of the game on Friday but he was our best player, aside from VDV, up until that point.

Broja and Chalobah are others. They have a few of their own youth players on loan as well.
Chelsea are good at getting inflated fees for their players but now they are desperate and other clubs know this they will have to take a hit on a few of them.

Agreed. 17 more games then sell and upgrade in the summer. Would like Skipp to start on Wed and PEH to come on and close the game off, if the game goes our way.
Agree with Luka and fridge. Wharton wants to stay for the rest of the season anyway. It makes sense to get that deal done and keep Hojbjerg till his replacement comes in
Zero hurry here for us, always felt like a summer deal.
