Gomes for me as well

posted on 31/1/24

I would have been 100% Gomes before the suspensio , but Doyle is also some player. These were his first half stats against West Brom.

100% tackles win
93% pass accuracy
49 touches
39/42 passes completed
6/6 long balls completed
1 key pass

It's genuinely the type of selection problem we've wanted to see in midfield for years.

Doyle certainly looks an absolute bargain at what was it 4million?

Percy has announced we are making a late bid to tey and sign Yuri Alberto, a striker from Corinthians in Brazil.

Now our number one target allegedly

And what about LWB? I would stick with Doherty, with RAN coming on as and when needed.

I thought Doc's pass to Neto on Sunday was excellent.

RAN comes back in straight away for me. I think he is one of our most important players in terms of the system GON plays. He allows a seamless switch between 343 and 442.

Doherty has done well, but he is second choice in both wing back positions in my opinion. Provides excellent depth though.

Anyone on here understand the intricacies of Wolves ticketing system?

Been trying for about 3 weeks to purchase a ticket for my son-in-law. (WHISPER he's an armchair Man Utd fan, but not the sort to set off a Hawthorne's style ruckus).

The seat next to mine in the Steve Bull stand (a season ticket holder who hasn't attended for the best part of a season and a half) has been put up for resale since tickets went on sale. Now I fully understand that the club won't sell those seats until all other seats have been sold.

I did look at buying 2 other seats elsewhere and then putting mine up for resale. I wasn't allowed to do that, again for reasons I understand - for a fixture like Man Utd they are reserved for members.

Last night I finally gave up and, because my son-in-law can no longer attend and because for me it's a 200 mile round trip on a Thursday night, decided to miss this game, putting my seat up for resale.

This morning both my seat and the one next to me were still unsold. I even went through the process of initiating a purchase for them. I couldn't, still getting the same message that resale seats could not be purchased while other seats were unsold. Fair enough.

However, I have now had an email that my seat has been sold (I get a portion of the resale amount). Checking on the site I see that, as informed, my seat has been sold as has the one next door. Strangely, there are still a handful of unsold non-resale seats, as shown when I, once again tried to buy 2 resale seats together.

A bit strange really, when all I was trying to do was help fill the stadium by two (even if one of us wouldn't be shouting when we score, something the club wouldn't have known, of course).

Sorry if has bored lots of you.

Incidentally, still about 200 unsold seats.

It may be an idea if you tried telephoning the club to discuss such issues I always find them
very helpful you just need to tell them your supporter number first off

Did ring them early on in the process. Just given the information about membership requirement.

It's the bit regarding some resale seats (mine) being sold when non-resale seats still available.

Just frustrating, a few hours of my life I'll never get back.

I wonder if the non resale tickets were singles by the time you went back on Wulfrun? Yours sold because it was next to another vacant seat, presumably, after any other non take doubles had been sold?

The online ticketing system is pretty rubbish in my experience.

Two vacant seats together will always sell quicker than a single. Worth noting that even in sell out games there are always a few single seats remaining unsold. If anyone is happy to go to a game on their own then single seats are usually available until the day before a game. They don’t sell them on the day because of the risk of away fans getting them in the wrong areas of the ground

I understand that 2 neighbouring seats will be more saleable than a single, but I was trying, at first, to purchase a single, the one next to my own, which I would have thought was in the club's interest. As soon as I relinquished my own the two seats together were made available.

The end result was the same as what I was trying to achieve, both seats will be occupied but, unfortunately, not by me or my son-in-law.

Hey ho, I'll be there at the next home game which will be, would you believe, Brentford again.

Crazy to think a win could take us 8th. Seems a lot of 'better' sides are trying to throw this season away. Brighton struggling, Newcastle hot and cold. Chelsea and United a shambles. Win tomorrow and I might just start to believe this season isn't quite finished yet.

Brighton in the FA Cup looks a real opportunity for us more so than the league of course, win that and its the last 8 and then who knows with a favourable draw.

Looks like deadline day will be worth following with the possibility of none, one or two signings. The main one being targeted is striker Yuri Alberto from Corinthians in Brazil. And another forward is also possible.

Joe Hodge is likely to go out on loan and if we do bring in a striker then so will Nathan Fraser

BBC:

One deal looking unlikely to happen is Wolves' attempt to sign Brazil international Yuri Alberto from Corinthians.

Gary O'Neil has been desperate to sign an authentic 'number nine' before the window shuts and negotiations seemed to have reached a positive conclusion.

However, Wolves backed off when further fees were demanded as part of the deal.

There is interest in Armando Broja but Chelsea's loan fee demand of £5m is currently closing off that avenue.

It is hardly ideal Wolves are one of four teams playing tonight. When their game against Manchester United finishes there will be less than an hour until the transfer window closes.

Obviously, managers are not across the finer details of contract negotiations but they quite like to be kept in the loop.

There’s lots of contradictory stories online at the moment about what deals will and won’t happen. Hopefully things will become more positive later

Personally, I'd prefer to go with what we have and give Fraser the opportunity to make a break through.

Broja is too expensive and bringing in someone from Brazil could be a huge gamble and could upset the apple cart, so to speak.

We have a talented squad which is doing a lot better than most expected and a manager who has brought out the best in several players.

We should keep the momentum going and bring in new faces, if needed, in the summer.

Theo Corbeanu has had a lot of loan deals from Wolves, some successful some not. Now he is leaving permanently to join Granada in the Spanish top flight

Yuri Alberto went to Zenit St Petersburg for 25m euros, then last January went on a free transfer to Corinthians. He scored 1 in 4 games last season in a league that's well below the standard of the Premier League. It'll be quite a gamble, even if it is only a loan deal.

posted on 1/2/24

Agree Wolfie, wouldn't be that disappointed not to sign anyone, but if that happens would definitely give Fraser more opportunities, from the bench initially.

posted on 1/2/24

Yuri Alberto has youth on his side. Played a lot of games for a young lad and although not prolific, he has scored pretty consistently. Basically a 1 in 3 record so far after 216 career games.

posted on 1/2/24

He'll be 23 next month cinci and last season didn't score that ratio. He's started 4 games without scoring this season and been subbed off in each game.

My point is, we have a talented 18 year old who has scored 2 goals in his 3 appearances for the first team and I'd hate to see him go on loan and maybe never feature for us again. That seems to happen far too often when we send players out on loan, whatever their age.

Corbeanu îs the latest example.

Sorry to hear that Raul Jiminez has suffered a serious hamstring injury and won’t be playing for some time. Because of that Fulham, like Wolves, are interested in taking Broja on loan from Chelsea
