Hopefully it’ll only be a month.

That’s pretty unlucky for him and United, the difference he makes is clear to see. At least you still have Casemiro who also does the same.

We might see Shaw playing CB again.

Haters like Diafol gonna hate, but my guy had yet another good game yesterday.

------------------------------------------

He is a bit underappreciated.

-------------------------------------------

Still a massive blow for us and must be very frustrating for him to be essentially ruled out for 90% of the season due to what is essentially a couple of very unlucky impact injuries

---------------------------------------------

Hopefully they are both one-off impact injuries and nothing that will hinder him again down the line. The last thing we need is him being injury prone given the set of defenders we have.

We've just got to get on with it. Of course prefer to have Martinez there, but I'm almost less worried about the defence and want to make sure that we still keep banging in some goals. Let's not be timid like we have been in a lot of games away from OT.

Of course Villa will be a tough game, but we need to step it up and this will be a good test.

Big loss. No doubt about it. At least we only have one game per week for much of the season.

Important player but another long lay off, turning into a sick note sadly. We seem to have zero luck with injuries to defenders. Might as well right off the entire season for Martinez.

Wish him the best and hope he returns stronger.

We now need two reliable CBs during the summer window.

He helps us score goals as well. Our build up play is so much slicker when he’s playing as he’s much better playing the ball between the lines than the alternatives.

Could do with Luke Shaw taking the lightweight prima-donnas for some body-building, diet and commitment lessons. He is a shining example of what a player can do to make it to the top through determination.

Not denying he is a key player, but injuries happen. We have played most of this season without him, we can't do anything about it. We shouldn't just fall apart because he's not there. That has to be the mentality of the squad

But you’re talking about us maintaining our attacking form, but he’s contributing an important part to that. That’s arguably the biggest loss with him, he’s not as significant an upgrade defensively over some of the others as he is in build up.

I'm not sure how you want me to react - we're absolutely fecked without him? Like I said, we're a better team with him in it, but he's not available. So do we just fall apart, or just have to cope as every other team does with injuries.

I was trying to make the point that it’s actually what we’ll lose in attack that is the bigger issue, to expand on your post about the defence and attack. Plenty of teams can’t cope without losing their most important players. It’s only City that can really cope.

All teams have to cope without their best players, it's why we have squads as no-one has 100% fully fit squads. But whilst Martinez is a useful asset in terms of building play, it's not as if in every game he has played we have been stunning or vice-versa. I'm not trying to underplay his influence, but don't wish to over-egg it either. For me it's the mental approach that is key, that has been our biggest weakness.

He has been injured by 2 players. How does that make him injury prone?

When players touch him, he gets injured. 👍

It’s also a quality issue. When you have a weak squad you rely on your most important players even more than the best teams do. Obviously these players are mentally weak as well.
