Yes fully agree. So confident in the whole playing team, coaching staff and also the owners as well now. I actually look forward to the next game whereas I used to dread them.

I agree with all you have said. Last season I was just miserable and, like you, didn’t even like the players because they didn’t seem to have any affection for the club or its fans and just looked like they couldn’t be bothered to put any effort in.

With hindsight, we now know why they couldn’t be bothered - they had contracts with clauses in that meant they could go elsewhere, if Leeds were relegated, and get the same wages irrespective of which team they moved on loan to! I, personally, don’t want to see any of those players back at Leeds, especially if we do manage to get back to the Premier League.

I think Farke is a fantastic manager and would have been a much better choice to follow Bielsa. This season is so far a joy, like it was under Bielsa, and I hope we do manage promotion at the end of it. I think Farke and the team deserve it.

He will most likely be a success in the premiership if given adequate backing, something the 49s intend to do.

Yes well said Farkness absolutely spot on the enjoyment factor has well and truly returned into the hearts of Leeds fans this season even Lowfields I bet deep down in the bowels of his soul has a moment or two of pleasure watching Farke's Leeds team play some magical stuff at times.

My son was asking me about football yesterday.

A true first!

Asked about best teams in world and were they club sides or countries, then asked about Bielsa and if Farke is like Bielsa.

I explained that Farke is good but Bielsa was special.

He asked if any managers in Prem better than him.

I said Pep is successful but even he says Bielsa is the best.

For bringing out best in players, Bielsa is a genius.

And every time he mentioned Leeds, he said "we"

We dont get to football as we work weekends running teh tennis club, but it feels like it might just be time to get him up to a match!

Happy to hear we hired Jordan Miles as Head of Recruitment. 49ers aren't faffing around. They said
they would expand the off-the-pitch side of things
and they are. Another player personnel exec who
is very data driven. I'd rather we go this route than
the emotional rollercoaster that was Orta.

This bodes well for Farke. As has been said, if we
do go back up first time, he should have a better
run at things and better backing.

As for Farke, I think he's the best manager since MB.
His brand of football is highly watchable. Love him.

Great post, agree absolutely - the feel good factor is back, and I challenge any neutral to claim that we're not good to watch. That Farke has managed this turnaround under the circumstances and in the time it's taken seems nothing short of miraculous.

I can't say I give a lot of priority to cup games but I'm sure the whole club is buzzing after last night. I'd imagine that lots of people watched that game. It was a great statement of intent.

Am sure Orta was very data driven 🤷🏻‍♂️

this is what I mean - totally agree ref the feel good factor.

and that's because of winning games.

we're winning games because we have a good squad, and a decent manager

we have a good squad and a decent manager because people at the top shipped out any bad eggs within our ranks, even 'losing' money on some of the players.

what a complete waste of energy those crying all summer about those contract loans.

and am not saying some were wrong either - but what annoyed me were some of the weaker posters on here was clear didn't really understand loans deals and just tagging on the back of stronger posters who did understand it, and in their mind rightly questioned it.

can't remember who said this but "clearly we're not in good hands" ref the 49'ers because that was the fad of the day.

kin weak a-ss posters without an opinion or looking for an easy ride on a forum where you're anonymous

Where is evidence of this, plenty of articles of how the process of data was used 👍

He might, go on to struggle all season, and end up being out of the team.

The £1.5m fee is then irrelevant, they simply will not excise that clause.

But if he goes on, and gets another 10 goals, plays really well, they will excise the £1.5m

A young midfielder who does that, is worth alot more than £1.5m.

Thats Kebabs point, why handicap yourself with such a low figure.

Its not rocket science, whats hard about it

Spanish, from that article, you bring up everyweek 🤣

And am still correct 🤷🏻‍♂️

Bit of revisionism going on here, Orta was all about data, the club couldn't bang on enough about it.

THOF - Thanks for the update on the travel for the Plymouth game.
Must admit back when the rats were jumping ship preseason I was fearing the worst.
The 49ers appear to be doing a decent job, although it's hard to tell whether they actually have any money...books are almost balanced since their takeover.

Just read that Chelsea were allocated 6,298 tickets for tonight, love that about the FA Cup...I imagine it will be a similar amount should Chelsea progress, either way a fantastic reward for our fans!

Top 3 sides in the champ were relegated last season. Bottom 3 in the PL (excluding Everton’s points deduction) were promoted last year.

Maybe we’re not better, maybe there’s just a gulf in class. Maybe Farke would relegate us with this squad next year like he did with Norwich.

Hey, I have the feelgood factor too. Just putting it out there.

If you look at the true bottom three - Sheff U, Burnley & Luton I think we can safely say our income is much higher than all of them. Maybe even all three put together?

With proper ownership and management we should be able to hold our own in the PL.

My opinion is that we are better than our team last season, with proper management last season's team should have never gone down. I expect us to be in a game with either Chelsea or Villa.

Looking like Chelsea at the moment but still plenty of time.

The problem is that, should we go up, we will need to invest a lot, Meslier remains a concern, both in terms of will he stay at the club and is he the required standard.

Archie is undoubtably a talent but he has struggled against stronger, faster, more skillful wingers and he isn't a right back.

Firpo has improved but has yet to show he can do it other than at championship level.

We have Struijk and Cresswell as our centrebacks, business will need to be done there. I am assuming that Ampadu will revert to midfield

Midfield looks OK.

Up front we could lose, Summerville even if we are promoted, likewise Rutter and possibly Gnonto. Do we have a premier league ready striker?

Then there's the mess of what happens with the likes of Aaronson, Roca, Harrison, etc, none of whom, I presume will return.

And no under 21's of note to come through.

Better than we were last year, and better than Bielsa's team I think, but if we go up a lot of work required to stay up.

posted on 7/2/24

Surely saying better than Bielsa's team and better than last year if we go up Farke is doing things right and good at his job!..

He went up twice with Norwich and it could be argued his problem with them was the same as Bielsa with us, not getting the right backing!..

Having said that, I think the 49ers won't hang around if promoted, I'd think the people they're bringing in the background now will do things the right way, and I think Farke will get better backing from the 49ers than he or Bielsa got in their last Premier sleepover!..

And our better players, one of the hardest things for any promoted team to do is to hang on to them, but I think the backing that'll be there will make it easier to hold onto them or if not than replace them!..

Loaned players coming back, I'd take Harrison no problem, but the rest can sod off!..

Look, I don’t know the numbers , but even if 49ers were happy to throw in loads of money once in the EPL, won’t the FFP rules or whatever you call them, cap the amount they can spend anyway to a sum which will be far lower than any existing EPL team, simply based on averaging earnings power ? 🤷‍♂️
The rules as I perceive them seem to make it impossible for promoted teams to compete. Maybe that’s why Leeds are trying to limit spend as much as they can this year, to ‘save’ it for EPL?
We already know that if we don’t go up, we’re a selling club, big time, just to stay within EFL financial limits
