He was coughing like that for a long time with us. Not sure if it’s a nervous thing … If not, I agree it doesn’t sound great.
Said before, I bet with his age and history as a smoker he has high blood pressure. Therefore probably on an anti hypertensive tablet such as ramipril, the most common side effect of which is a persistent dry cough. My father in law is on one and has the exact same cough.

One big cough, sure but he's constantly clearing his throat. You can hear it. They're like little tickly coughs right the way through.
have you noticed that while he talks in interview , he always looks down and only looks up at the end of his sentence.
So i think both this and his constant cough thing are just 'nervous' actions. Not that he's nervous per se. A lot of people say "um" when they speak to fill in between spoken words, and it is literally buying time to think, often just split seconds, and maybe his cough is something similar.
But I also agree, he looks to have the physique and health of a kebab shop owner.

If you see him talk relaxed to players or friends and he isn't 'on duty' there's no looking away or coughing.
He does not trust the media one bit, enjoys a joust or ripping the pash and whilst he's guarded in these interviews he is as sharp as a tack and will take them on jovially or otherwise - as you have all seen now.
