Onana and Højlund

Onana was in one of his better spells of form in the weeks leading up to AFCON and he's been decent since his return. Probably his best game today from a pure GK'ing perspective (kicking was a bit off). He still makes me nervous as hell and his technical quirks (diving from a standing start, jumping up to get down to things, moving too much in certain situations) aren't just going to vanish overnight. I did like seeing him get out and sweep up on two occasions outside the penalty box today. We haven't really seen him sweep for us.

Hojlund's a very exciting, powerful striker that was always going to take a bit of time to find his feet (though he took no time at CL-level), especially in a team with very inconsistent, unpredictable service and a lack of a senior CF to take some pressure off.

Five in a row in the prem. Apparently he’s the youngest player to do this since Anelka when he was 19. Good to see him finding the net now.

Hojlund seems like the kinda buy you should always be making- he'll come good eventually no matter who is managing

At the end the real answer is the midfield pairing of Case and Mainoo. Offer a midfield balance we haven't had all season.

Not quite sure you know the difference between making a statement and a prediction

The biggest gripe I have with him is he's replaced DDG with an inferior player and for a lot of money. I was all on board with a ball playing GK coming in but I had no idea he was this dodgy with practically everything he does. As I said I didn't watch much of him at Ajax or Inter.

He also spent 85m on Antony who isn't even as good as Elanga and 55m on Mason Mount.

Had this money been spent better we could competing with Arsenal and Liverpool to try and topple City. Instead we're competing with Villa, Newcastle, Spurs and Brighton.

I still can't get my head around the Mason Mount one. It never made any sense to anyone. We didn't need that type of player given he made Bruno his captain the same summer.

You're competing against West Ham, Wolves and Brighton
----------------------------------------------------------------------
we are 9 points ahead of you

You might want to take another look at that league table. 😂

That’s a good stat.

I do like him, he doesn’t go missing, scores different types of goal and I think he can have his deeper play polished a bit with time. He also works hard and clearly absolutely loves it.

We simply look better all round with our key players back. The problem is our squad is far too light so we struggle massively with just a few injuries to key players. This squad still needs some big changes that will take a few years as well as sensible purchases and not crap like Antony.

Maguire was brilliant yesterday, said it at half time. Not a popular thing to say though is it so wont get the recognition

Having said that, I dont know how utd do it, how villa didn't score 5 or 6 yesterday was crazy.

Tbf Hojlund has looked decent even when not scoring. Problem is that he doesn't do much outside the box, which would be fine at a team like City, but not so much at Utd- at least earlier in the season anyway

A player with that pace, size and drive was always going to come good. Reminds me of when Rashford had the drive. He remains a player who doesn't need to be scoring to have an impact but now hes scoring hes outstanding.

We're getting more balls in the box, and suddenly Hojlund is scoring more goals.

In Garnacho we have a potentially very good player, him and Rasmus have been very good in recent weeks. If Bruno and Rashford can find some form then we could have a decent end to the season.

The summer will be interesting, in my honest option, for this side to prosper in future seasons Bruno and Rashford need to be replaced. I'd prefer a 3 man midfield (hello Frankie De Jong ) and we definitely need more firepower on the wings.

In a weird way it is for the above reason I remotely entertained the idea of a Mourinho return. He is washed no doubt, but in ETH I do not see he has the cahoonas to get rid of Bruno and Rashford.

Mourinho would come in and do a fire sale no doubt.

There's a long list of players who need replacing in the squad, but the first 11 probably just needs a RB, a top winger and a creative midfielder with a good passing range.

Any manager will struggle with this current squad imo. After last season, dropping or selling Rashford would've been madness, Bruno has done a lot for the club in his time here, I just feel the side won't progress to where we'd like with them in the side.

Dalot is also looking better, though he still gets caught out defensively at times. That cross was exquisite.

At time, is that a joke?

Wolves he didn't get out quick enough and cost us a goal.

Yesterday he was caught with a ball inside numerous times.

The bloke is a mess.

Disastrous. He reminds me of playing with a poor man's Dani Alves. With the added benefit of not being that good as an attacker.
