To get OVER 400
(and, er.....yes I do)
The longer the season wears on, the more it just feels like a long grind. Nearly all of the games feel like that too. If we DO get up, will we look back as fondly as we do the last time we got out of this division? I doubt it. It could be just nostalgia talking but the team of 85/6 felt as though it was on its way somewhere. Hindmarch and Ross Maclaren. Charlie Palmer and Steve Buckley. John Gregory and Geraint Williams. Micklewhite and Chandler. Davison and Gee. We had exciting games, 4-0 away at Wolves, 7-0 at home to Lincoln, 8 goals against Swansea in the 2 games. There must have been some grim games but the team had a real personality about it that was a joy to follow around the country. Cashin is the only one in the current team who feels like a proper legend we might get misty-eyed about over a pint one day in the future. Maybe Fozzy at a pinch by virtue of time served.
Whatever happened to the heroes?
Well there was the Oxford United match to look back fondly on and the Port Vale game the season before. And the game against erm....

All the Shakespearoes?
Leon Trotsky and Sancho Panza. Only one of them got an ice pick.
To be honest Vidal I don't much care if we only have one or two to enthuse about come next May so long as we get out of this league. If we do then I know we will need a revamp of the squad as the Championship is another thing altogether.
I would like to think, however, that we will be happy to have the likes of Cash, Nyambe, Nelson, CBT, NML, Thommo, Wilson, Wildsmith or Vickers and maybe Elder next season and with some hope of signing Adams and others.
Celebrations that our 11 point record was safe for another season were a little bit muted on here over the weekend. With the Blades beating Luton they surpassed the lowest score in the PL.
At the start of this season I did think Luton and Sheffield Utd would really struggle. God we were just awful and our recruitment compared to Luton's was just diabolical.
As for Heroes.....Vickers would need a shout out given his personal tragedy not that that will be remembered in years to come.
Cashin for sure who has been an absolute rock in defence as would our Guatemalan hero N M-L. Collins heroics up front and I saw his on the volley finish again and it really is a great goal. For me the arrival of Nyambe and although short term Adams is proving to be two vital acquisitions.
The enigma that is Sibley has failed to live up to expectations as a No.10 but proven to perform at a decent level as a LWB. Not so much a 'hero' but one that has surprised me with his consistency in that position.
Although not the same position I do love a Paul Warhurst esque position change revelation.
Double barrell Rams' players would have to be another.
Mornin’ y’all
MATCH DAY!!!!!!!
Morning! Mission accomplished on t'other 'un.
Sibley has done well enough at left back but there are times when you can tell that he has not grown up in that position. On Saturday he got beaten a couple of times in situations where Fozzy would have made sure that one way or another his man would not have gone past him. I don’t think he has the necessary defensive solidity to play there in the long term.
Not sure what the CBT situation is. You get the feeling that we might see one of the Ws appearing on the bench in the not too distant future. I feel we need to use the squad more. Hourihane isn’t so god that he must stay on the pitch no matter what, and NML would benefit from resting his legs from time to time.
I agree, he is definitely not God ...
Warne said in his press conference yesterday that Exeter had won 4 of their last 5... so make no mistake - this will be a tough game. Suspect we may see CBT tonight ...
All we need for guaranteed success is to have a plan and to 'turbocharge' it.
Article in The Times re players who have scored in all four ties of league football, plus FA and League Cups, and Europe (excluding InterToto and Anglo-Italian cups)
Included are our very own Kevin Hector (his 4th tier was Bradford Park Avenue apparently) - me neither, and Leighton James.
Fun facts to enthral you on a Tuesday afternoon.........
