went with the wrong hand too
I just cant see what Raya brings to the team overall, yes his distribution might be marginally better , but Ramsdale is by far a better shot stopper and miles better on crosses. I cant really remember Raya pulling off any great saves since he's been in the team. We may have had more clean sheets but not sure if any of them have been down to him , more likely that the two centre backs have played very well lately (apart from last night)
Raya's command of the box is better than Ramsdale. But I agree, Ramsdale is better at shot stopping.
Rice never closed down the fella who scored.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
not the media darling Rice. I don't believe you! He bosses every game
30 seconds to go in a CL game where 0-0 would be a good result, all Raya needed to do was hold the ball so why pass it to Martinelli like that
General inexperience across the board. Only Havertz and Jorginho know anything about the CL.
Raya always looks a bit panicky to me
Raya was our best player last night. The goal was more on Marti than him.
But not even going to have a go at either of them. Arteta’s tactics cost us last night. We are in flying form and Arteta decided the cowardly approach of a 0-0 draw would be enough to take back to London.
tbf sure maybe hes a tad too far off his line? but the strike doesnt look that spectacular but it looked deadly accurate to me hit the inside of tthe far post? hes not got the biggest reach for a gk but dno if u can blame him for that.

If he's starting position was further back he would have saved it easily

How do you hold the ball when it's passed back to you at pace?
Also, if you look at the angle of the shot from behind the ball, you see how much it whips outside of the post before bending back in.
Raya is not a great shot stopper, but he had no chance with that one.

He was unchallenged when the ball came back to him so had time to look for a better outlet, or to hoof it up the field, with 30 seconds to go you dont mess about trying to be clever

If he was in the correct starting position it would have been quite saveable
Funny thing about this discussion is last time we played in Portugal Ramsdale was beaten from the half way line...

Above all, Porto also deserve a lot of credit for insistently pressing Arsenal all over the pitch in the 93rd minute.
It's that pressure that leads to all of Gabriel, Martinelli, Rice and Raya making mistakes.
And out all of those, Raya's pass is perhaps the most excusable mistake of all. Trying to single him out for it in this instance is pure scapegoating.

Honestly mate, you just come across as somebody who doesn't like Raya because he's displaced Ramsdale.
I'd understand if Ramsdale was a world class shot stopper, but he isn't. And Raya is better than him at the other aspects of the game.
I think Raya is too far out as well, but it would have required a great save because of the shape the strike had - it’s certainly not a clanger by Raya.

The reason I dont like Raya is because I dont think he's as good overall as Ramsdale and is a mistake waiting to happen
