I think deep down everyone knows that Raya is better. Ramsdale is a fan favourite and the way he was "suddenly" frozen out hurt us. In the end, the right decision was made for the team.
I hope Ramsdale leaves in the summer and gets regular playing time elsewhere

Nah, i think they are bang on the same level tbh
Ramsdale a better shot stopper, Raya better in the air
But agree on the rest, if we getting Raya for £27m and sell Ramsdale for £40m then thats good business
Doesn't Raya have better shot saving stats compared to Rambo? I think Rambo is capable of saves that Raya isn't for example the Porto goal but overall Raya has been part of a side that is better than last season and I think Raya us partly responsible for that.
It's a shame because Ramsdale probably would have gone on to be England's number 1, he may well still become it and this season being number 2 may make him work even harder to become an even better goalkeeper.
At least this year, Raya has been the most protected goalkeeper in the league by a mile. He's had nothing to do. I know it's a bit unfair of me as he can only perform against what's out there, but I don't know if this period proves a lot, or puts out of mind the occasions where he didn't impress in the first half of the season.
He has definitely looked better at sweeping and distribution, which is what we supposedly got him for, but even that is easier if you're dominating games like we have.
Overall, not sure if he's an elite GK or ever will be, and I do worry about more tricky upcoming ties where he'll be under more pressure. But of course what the hell do I know??
Now I've read the article in the OP and realised I basically just said what they did.
Surprised that Arteta did t bring Ramsdale on for the second half against Sheffield Utd to give him some match practice ahead of the Brentford game.
Raya seems to be better for our needs, he's quick off his line, starts counter attacks and with the defence playing as they have been, he's facing routine shots and dealing with them mostly as expected.

I disagree. Although I can no longer defend Ramsdale to the extent I have, yesterday's error does not prove Raya is better. If you have forgotten Luton and Newcastle as well as a host of others, you're forgiving Raya far too easily.
Im not sure that Raya would have saved the Toney long range effort yesterday , Ramsdale's slightly taller and he still only just got to it
Ramsdale was also in the wrong position after the kick-off. Basically, he was dawdling getting back instead of sprinting and was lucky that Toney's shot was in his vicinity. Command of the box is the most important statistic a top keeper has because it defuses so many attacks and stops opposing teams building momentum. I think it's worth sacrificing a bit of shot stopping for that alone.
The mistake we made was selling Emi which has forced us into wasteful spending. Not replacing Ramsdale with someone who suits us more.
