I’d go as far to say that Utd don’t have a single player that gets in Liverpool or City’s first 11.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Jurgen Klopp should have been sacked last summer then surely if this was true?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If we don't have a single player who would get in your team (your own words) and we finished 2 places above you over 38 games then I'd be asking big questions of my manager.
I don't think it's true either. Varane walks in your team alongside VVD. There's not much between Shaw and Robertson when they are both fit either. Casemiro maybe not so much this season but last season he'd have been the first midfielder on your team sheet. Kobe would definitely stand a very good chance of getting game time at Liverpool too. The lad is absolute quality.
Whilst Liverpool undoubtedly have a better team than we do right now, the gap between Utd and City's team is far bigger in my opinion.
my opinion.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not having a single player that would get in the team this year and the performance of the two clubs last year are really two separate things. Not least because we've rebuilt the midfield!
Last year I'd have happily taken Varane over the rotated Konate and Matip. Would have very happily taken Casemiro over Fabinho who seemed to totally forget how to play football. Bruno over Henderson/Milner/Elliott. A happy and confident Rashford would definitely have made our joint 11 last year.
But a year is a long time in football. Varane has been dropped at times for Utd and Konate has progressed whilst already playing more this season than last. Casemiro suddenly looks old, not a Fabinho drop off a cliff admittedly but definite decline. We have AMA and Szobo now, both have been excellent. And Rashford looks like he'd rather not be playing football at all.

I do agree re-Shaw and Mainoo though. Not a lot between Robertson and Shaw (when fit) and Mainoo would definitely get game time for us - kid looks a talent.

On current form of course none of our players get in any of the top 3 sides.
I’ve no doubt many of our players would look far better in those teams though.

Easily just as many as utd's though.

What's with the 1 stars guys?
Don’t think there’s really any players we have that are better than city or pools. Shaw might run close to Robertson when on form but he’s still not as good. Mainoo tends to get overrated by fans, with good reason, he’s shown a lot of composure and promise but also is prone to disappear at times, not sure he’d replace anyone at this early stage. Onana is a non starter. Varane/ Martinez possibly in CB. Last seasons rashford certainly would, but not this seasons that said that gap in some positions isn’t huge by any means. A lot is about form though, and we don’t have much of that as it is.
In summary guys, I believe the major difference between us and those above us, is the managers, not the ability within the squads.

United's best IX is more than a match for LFC and AFC. Nowhere near MCFC though.
However, there are two problems (reflected in current league positions) with that state of affairs:
Firstly, injuries (which can't be helped) and is has occured in far more essential players for united than the others and;
Secondly, a lack of a recognition of the United style in the selection of the regular line-ups.
Players like mctominay, rashford, casemiro (at this stage in his career), dalot and lindelof should NEVER be starters - indeed the latter two are not good enough at ANY stage of the match.

Liverpool have as good a squad as Man city and twice the squad as Man utd. They're no where near Arsenal either.

This is the same United that stuck 11 on the 18 yard box at Anfield then celebrated a 0-0 draw like they'd won the CL.
