I think you'll be hard pressed to find anyone who isn't on the Ange train. Yes, there have been times when we've been woefully exposed but its his first season and we can't expect things to be perfect yet, particularly as he's yet to fully construct a side in his image. Many of the squad are those he inherited.
What some fans don't seem to understand is that it's perfectly fine to criticise a manager/players in an isolated game but still have belief that they'll get things right long term. Some, like Luka, just don't get that. He sees things entirely in black and white. If you criticise the manager once, that's it, you don't like him and you want him sacked. It's completely absurd and that's the kind of bullshiiiiiit Sizz gets attacked for. I loved Pochettino but there were certain in-game decisions that had me screaming at the tv. Doesn't mean I didn't believe in him whole-heartedly.
If any Spurs fan is truly 'Ange out' then I don't believe they're actually Spurs fans. They can't be.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You're a mug who changes his mind the way the wind blows. During the Wolves game you were saying something about Ange's 'cocksure attitude' grinding you or something. I see your true colours lad.
Sunday was great though. Defo time to relive it
At HT this is you :
Think Villa are managing the game to reserve energy for the Ajax game midweek. I expect a more fiery side in the second half. I think they’re gonna go for it. Our chance to grab the points was in that first half I think. So many opportunities to exploit their high line and no one is spotting the runs of both son and Maddison.
😂😂😂
Then when you were negative about Son, he went and scored 😂😂😂.
You're defo one of the biggest clowns on our board. Right up there with you pal Sizzflake.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I watched the game but later on read through the match thread to see what peoples thoughts were.
I found in embarrassing what some fans were saying - Drop Romero, Deki needs selling, Son anonymous.
It's as if some fans cannot take one half of less than perfect football without wetting the bed and calling for wholesale changes.
I thought it was a fantastically managed away match where we grew stronger and stronger against a very negative Villa who parked 9 players in front of goal and kicked it long to attack.

I'm fully behind Ange but in terms of a failure if we don't get top 4, well it would be if we don't get CL. We're certainly good enough to get top 4 from this point and we haven't come close in any domestic trophies. It wouldn't be to say Ange wouldn't have done a decent job, say we finish 5th. I'll have been pleased at us showing signs of progress.
I do also expect a good end to the season though. Players like BJ and Werner looking more up to it, Maddison coming back to the form he showed pre-injury. He even said himself he felt like he was gradually getting back to those levels, which show he wasn't quite at it before and this didn't help with certain games like against Wolves and Everton. Now we have an almost full strength team again I don't think it's unfair to see us unbeaten up to late April and with 3 or 4 wins in the next 5 games.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But you are judging top 4 based on now.
Was top 4 at the start of the season a realistic target, Was top 6 even.
It wasnt because most can understand the changes that had to happen and the difficulty of doing this. Poch took us to 5th, Klopp took LFC to 8th, as did Arteta, Pep won nothing but took over a team already in 2nd.
From here we can have very strong hopes of top 4, but if we fail it will not be because Ange has failed but because we are still very early in our development and things will be up and down and we are clearly not ready for it yet.
Europa would be acceptable to me and actually in terms of progression it isa great competition to reintegrate us back in to playing twice a week and gives the manager some "easier" games to really explore some of the squad and academy options. The latter stages are pretty good and that's when we go hard at it, IMO.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well I did think we could have a good season with a fresh change of manager who plays football the right way and without any build up of fixtures. Less so when Kane left but still better than last season. Or at least try and do something in the cups if we're not going to do as well in the league. Since we had the start we did in the league and went out of both cups relatively early, plus spending money on reinforcements, it became all the more realistic to expect top 4.
I’m still curious about his team selection for the cup match v Fulham. Think it was his 2nd game in charge
He made 9 wholesale changes and played the squad players essentially.
Now was it to put them in the shop window so levy could ship a few out?
Did he play them to genuinely see how they fared?
Or was it a message to Levy pointing out that the B team just wasn’t good enough?

We have no European footy, he should’ve gone all out to win the bloody thing 👍
I think Big Anges likability factor lends him to not be criticised.By fans and media alike. Not to say i am unhappy because i too really like Big Ange however.....
The criticisms i would have....
Our injuries we are playing the lowest amount of games for a season we could possible play barr 1 game and we have picked up tons of injuries. The only extra game was a win against the feckless heavily rotated Burnley at home.
Square pegs and round holes with the squad. The use of Skipp further forward was a decision he persisted with which to Stevie Wonder was not working. As too was Royal at centre back. Dier is currently donning it in at Bayern in the Champions League he might not of fit the system but is and always was a better option than Royal. Any use of the utterly useless Bryan Gil.
The non use of the youth team is disgraceful. We currently have the best under 21 team in the country and in an injury crisis did not use them. What more can Jamie Donley, Will Lankshear, Santiago and dorrington do? (West Ham have the second best youth team in the country and also do not utilise them by the way)
We only have to look at Liverpool to see how we can use the youth team.
Big Ange has had two windows, Conte had 3 windows. Albeit we lost one of the best players in the world in Harry Kane. Media treatment completely different.

-------------------------------------
He only used Skipp when we were down to the bare bones. Dier was given a chance and proved his was a liability. A farmer's league is the best place for him. Gil played alright against Man City away but he gave all the players a chance you mentioned and they messed up.
Emerson only played after Dier flopped. He did ok but Ange had no other option at the time.
In regards to the youth team, yes, plenty have potential but the step up in level to the prem is huge.
See Phillips and Devine who are probably our best prospects right now. Both deemed too good for U21's and are in and out of the Plymouth team.
Dorrington, Donley, Santiago have all had injuries this season. Lankshear was injured at the start of the season I think but he should get a loan next season.
He has played Udogie, Sarr, Micky and BJ. All of them are between the age of 20-22. All of them have suffered injuries as well proving how tough the prem is.
We defo have to aspire to be more like Liverpool in terms of developing youth but the players you mentioned need loans next season and thanks to their performances for the U21's they should secure a decent move like Devine and Phillps.
Gezza.....you totally forgot to mention VDV and Romero!
Aussieglue's really depends upon them to bail him out of opposing counterattacks on his high-line system!
That Villa game was a game of two halves.
First half we were lucky not to go in a goal down.
VDV played his heart out running back and beating the opposing wing man every single time. Can't remember that Villa player's name, but he got taught a lesson today....that Spurs have a defender who will beat him every time.
I just hope VDV stays healthy.
Dragusin is solid, good defender, take no prisoners, but....he's nowhere near as fast as VDV.

Lets remember what happened to us at, and after the Chelsea game! We lost VDV and things went a little down hill.

ted on holiday but miserable as usual.
Liverpool rely on their CBs in their high line. What they rely on just as much, is the aggressive press up field to put pressure on the ball and buy time for the high line to recover. They also look after the ball really well.
We are still refining our tactics, but the high line is always open to counter attack whether you are Spurs Liverpool or City. To say we are relying on Romero and VDV to make the system work is like saying we rely on the strikers to score or the keeper to save.
Like vs Villa, the CBs were 2 v 2 when we had possession but we out numbered them up field and our press was effective. They were no where near scoring in the first half, registering ZERO shots on goal

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nah! Sizzle is 75% negative. He's incredulous that we haven't won a trophy this season and considers our cup runs under Ange as shambolic....which is very far from the truth. Any attempt to justify why we are not yet the best team in the world after 6 months of Ange is met with "loser mentality" or "excuses" responses from him.
If anyone sees in B&W then he's your man.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Again you have it completely wrong, I’m not “incredulous” about anything.
I AM however utterly p!ssed off that we’ve not won a trophy for sixteen years.
1 trophy in 16 years is nothing but utter failure from Enic to the fans. Anyone who dresses it differently has been totally conned by them.
Soon we will be signing first testers that weren’t born the last time spurs won anything.
If you’re happy with that, then good on you.
The recent announcement to get rid of senior concussions (my father will now have to stop going) proves that levy only values money.
You’re a fool if you think otherwise

VDV played his heart out running back and beating the opposing wing man every single time. Can't remember that Villa player's name, but he got taught a lesson today....that Spurs have a defender who will beat him every time.
I just hope VDV stays healthy.
Dragusin is solid, good defender, take no prisoners, but....he's nowhere near as fast as VDV.

Gezza.....you totally forgot to mention VDV and Romero!
Aussieglue's really depends upon them to bail him out of opposing counterattacks on his high-line system!

Lets remember what happened to us at, and after the Chelsea game! We lost VDV and things went a little down hill.
Aussieglue's ideas will only work if he has fast run back defenders like VDV. I hope he finds another such player....I am not convinced Dragusin is it!

But Dragusin can play right back so he must have some speed right Ted?

I didn't say what years, did I
However, I like the way we play, and I've posted on this manager's straight talk technique, And I hope he continues to get the kind of players his system needs.

Ted you join the match thread when we play. You're insight would be a good addition to the farm, I mean thread.

I watched him against Villa.
He's a good solid defender. Got a right away!
And yes, he does also play RB. But he's not as fast as Romero at recovery, as far as today went he didn't need to be, and I just hope VDV keeps playing.

ted on holiday but miserable as usual.

If we don’t finish in the Top 4 I will absolutely consider this season a failure.
But you already lknow that.

And seriously what is this “big picture” b0llocks anyway?
I only care about NOW, and what’s happening THIS season, not about some abstract hopeful future.

I think you'd be hard pushed to find a Spurs fan who is not happy with our direction and not "along for the ride".
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You'd be surprised!
I not going to mention any names, but Hengy gave a hint of one in his reply.
There are some on here where it's top 4 or nothing.
Well Newcastle and Man U achieved top 4 last season. Look at them now. You've got to build on solid foundations.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Except I’ve not said once that I want him out, I’ve said the team has to do better, especially after that hit and miss period post Chelsea.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
