It’s opinions: mine is that Werner hasn’t got a great touch, pass, cross or conversion rate and I’d want better.

We can buy Maddisons and VDVs, so let’s buy more of them.

Yes let’s, but at the same time let’s keep Werner as he offers value at £12m. Goals scored have not been a problem so let’s spend money in other areas in order to improve.

A German international, Champions league winning squad player with bags of experience and suited to our system.

United used to win titles with players like Smalling, Cleverley, Jones, Evans, Brown, Djemba Djemba. City won the lot with Kalvin Phillips - a guy who can’t get into West Ham’s first team.

Most of our recent signings have been first 11 players, the odd squad player here and there never hurts

What completely facked us under Poch?

The thinking that we couldnt possibly buy any players that were as good as or better than the first 11.

This current team needs 3 top quality players Tom maybe even have a sniff of winning a league cup or FA Cup.

3 more players of the quality of VDV, Maddison, Son. If we can’t aim for that, what’s the point? I’ve seen us get Top4 for years but I’ve only been to two winning cup finals in my life - I know what sticks in my memory.

The plan will be to improve on what we have, but I think Werner is an upgrade on Gil - so let’s sell Gil, keep Werner and sign another wide attacker - that upgrades the first 11 aswell as the squad overall.

I'm not completely sold on Werner. Seems like a nice bloke, good first touch and he's quick but his end product is lacking. If we get CL I'd hope we could spend on someone better. If it's Europa I'd say it's a no brainer

We need a proper left winger who takes on their man and is clinical enough to chip in with a good amount of goals.

We’re getting to the end of another season where we’ve won nothing. Does Timo Werner get us closer to winning something? No. So buy players who will👍🏻

Timo came here in a bit of a rut, not starting many games, low confidence and form. So there was of course some adjusting to do.

In his 7 games (5 starts) he has 2 gaols and 2 assists, or 4 goal contributions to use the modern parlance.

That is not bad at all, and especially when you think that the team havent really been clicking in much of that time either. His last 2 games have been 2 of his best, looking more confident and willing to run at the FB

SO to say he is not better than we have is perhaps not quite right.

Secondly, a squad is not just made up of 25 top draw players, especially a club like us where we cannot offer what say City can offer. Subs/squad players will not be as good as your best XI, but you want the drop off to be as little as possible. Gakpo/Jota aint no Salah. Alvarez aint no Halaand, Werner aint no Son....but are they good enough to do a job and make an impact when they come on.

I think Werner is slowly showing that he is capable. And as a squad player, do you want to be spuffing £50m? At £13m Werners output so far is top value.

As stated above, my view is that as long as his signing does not inhibit us getting our top targets, then it is a worthwhile buy (if he keeps his form going), especially if we have Europe next season when we may have 50 games, which will be fecking hard work playing the Ange way.

Udogie, Vicario, Maddison, Porro, VDV are all first 11 starters that were signed in the last year. That's nearly half of our team bought to strengthen the starting eleven. Sorry, but to criticise for only buying squad players is completely inaccurate.
