It will be a tough game for both sides. We have been playing almost the last two months with a bare bones of a squad and still our sick bay contains some of our best players. There is no chance of any of them playing on Saturday.

However, we have to take some solace from our performance on Tuesday against Oxford. 5-0 and the level of the performance was up there with amongst our best. If we can replicate that, it will be some game. No prediction because anything can happen.

May the best team win.

Good idea to start this one early View. Get the comment count up and give the lads some confidence.

If we play like the two first-half performances v Brizzle and Reading (but the ball actually goes in the onion bag/is not wrongly given offside), we have nothing to fear.

I feel Niambe's unfortunate injury might be almost a blessing in disguise as it will reduce Warne's ability to tinker. We are likely to see a fairly settled back three with the option to switch to an attacking back four if we need to go for it. Ward and Wilson are both a bit suspect defensively but offer threat as wing-backs. A more defensive back four might mean Smith at right back and Fozzy on the left which seems less likely. I suppose Fozzy will be there to sub for Sibley when we are looking to see out a game.

We have some experienced players who ought to relish these big games rather than being fazed by them so that should stand us in good stead. I have become a bit nervous about our goalie who does not look anywhere near as steady as he did earlier in this season but I'm hoping that is just standard paranoid terror on my part as would be expected under the circumstances.

Following on from Terrys comments on the last MT, I think we should also designate tomorrow as 'lucky shirt day'.
With 'black & white day' in mind, I shall mostly be wearing last seasons 3rd shirt, black with green sleeves. Although its a relatively recent acquisition, it is currently on an unbeaten run of 1.

I'll be wearing mine...don't you worry about that one... I'll repeat...since wearing mine [the black one], 3 straight wins, 8 goals .. 1 conceded. QED

Might be just me then Fin. He looks a bit less decisive to me and I thought his distribution had become erratic, the longer kicks at least.

Not saying I am right Vidal. You see much more than I do and I respect your opinion more than most. Would rather have him than a fit Vickers though. He has a lot of credit in the bank for me.

I agree with that, I think he is the better keeper. As you say he has plenty of credit and most players are not brilliant every single game.

Have bought my Pompey away tickets. Will need to be an overnight stay. Could be something of a massive game for both teams.

Il get the yacht brought up from Cannes for the occasion. Cocktails on board for those with appropriate deck shoes and I'll get chef to rustle something up to go with it. Party all night if we win.

Just back to curse us for this match. If we don’t win it’s all your fault.

Can we do it if we win too?

It would be the safest thing. Even if witches do you a favour once they are likely to make up for it the next time. I'll bring the petrol.

Sliver of daylight will be the silver lining if we manage to beat Bolton Wanderers tomorrow. Based on what SuperwhiteinExile had to say about his club I'm surprised they're playing to their bare bones given the performances they've churned out weekly. Equally as impressive has been Bolton's rise back up the divisions after their demise due in part to the death of Phil Gartside.

Given that Bolton were in L2 only in 2020/2021 they've come on leaps and bounds due to ex Derby County's Ian Evatt's attacking football.

Whilst in charge of Barrow and guiding them back to the Football League for the first time in 48 years as champions of the National League the club were dubbed Barrowcelona.

Evatt got Bolton promoted in their only season in L2 and had got them as promotion contenders with some shrewd acquisitions, Sheehan and Charles the more notable names.

A far cry from the days Hierro, Campo, Okocha, Petrov, Giannakopoulos, Jardel and Anelka, how I'd have loved to see Derby recruit some of these names but for me the player we truly missed out on was Youri Djorkaeff. Had Jim Smith opted to sign him we'd not have gone down. Beautiful player and his talent was still there to see at 33/34 years old.

We've had quite a few memorable ding dongs with Bolton and tomorrow's is going to be a colossal ding dong. Both these clubs deserve to be playing at a higher level and ideally come the final whistle on Saturday 27th April we're confirmed as automatically promoted and Bolton Wanderers succeed via the play offs.

Amen to that, but let's not get distracted from the matter at hand. We got a witch needs a-torching.
