If he's not available today then the obvious replacement should be Amrabat. Not that he's excellent by any means but at least he's a DM. If Amrabat is fit and doesn't play then that says a lot IMO.

We will miss Casemiro though. In games when we defend deeper he's better and he's also really useful at set pieces.

Having said all the above though it wouldn't be a surprise for me to see him start!

Yeh we really need a top DM in the summer. I think it is essential if we are to see the best of Mainoo
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I like Mainoo but I think we are expecting too much too soon, some unfairly overhype him, others want to wait and see. But of late when when we've needed more defensive qualities he's been found wanting.

Someone like Amrabat (the version we've seen in glimpses and the WC) would be the perfect foil for Mainoo but sadly there Moroccan has underwhelmed for large parts of his loan period.

Mainoo, for me, is at his best when he's untethered from defensive duties, we are a long way off that stage.

YAWN.

We are ranked 5th on the injury list front. It is not only us others have got on with it. Liverpool have had injuries all over the place with kids coming on to seal cup glory.

Our manager has zero style and no direction. We played better under Ole that is saying something. The ' PE teacher.'
----------------------------------------------------------------------

🥱

Rinse, recycle, repeat!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Derailing the thread as usual.

We have been near the top of the injury table most of the season. It's not our biggest problem, but has certainly impacted on our performances. We looked much better as a team when we had Shaw back adding some width/crossing, Hojlund providing an attacking focal point and Martinez passing/playing out from the back. Those 3 made a big difference.

As others have said, we simply don't have the backup players that can offer the same approach to our play. Therefore we cannot get any consistency in terms of how we play.

I don't think that Ten Hag is the answer from what I have seen, but injuries have been a real problem for us this season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I have also said we lack options or can't you read?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Erm, I was agreeing with you.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

You said derailing the thread unless that was aimed at the moron who says the same thing about ETH in each of his posts!

I was mocking Scrotay's inanity!

Are you going to hug and kiss now the both of you.

I see the blithering idiot is still typing away.

Why have you got such a chip on your shoulder?

Totally agree. I think that his talents will be wasted if he is played as a DM. For me he needs to be the link man between the DM and AM. Him and Mount could rotate/fight for that spot if we ever see Mount play again. Hopefully he is back today.

Don't know if you recall the cup game against Palace at OT? Mount was very good in CM as was Amabrat in that free LB role. I never understood the signing until I saw what he offered and the potential for the future.

With so much of the season missed I really don't know what to expect from Mount, if we do see him and he if can keep passes ticking over, keeps making forward runs and is a goal threat he'll be a welcome return.

We are also missing Licha and his passing abilities, Shaw's even.

Generally speaking and it's not a dig at you per se, but it's so easy to blame the manager when you consider our style and form are inextricably and perilously linked to a few players, key players and what they offer. The manager is not immune from blame, he's culpable too but let's put everything into perspective before beating the same boring "Eth out" drum!

Indeed.

United fans everywhere are basically losing the will to live for too long now. Im sure its something Jim and INEOS are aware of.

United really do have to win today.

Exactly. Some people just can't see beyond extremes. Yes ETH hasn't done the business. But there are other factors

posted on 17/3/24

Unlike the Glazers, INEOS and Jim are aware of the disquiet, they can't afford to be as tone deaf as the Glazers. This is a season defining game and some cynics may say career saving game, not just for ETH but those on border line of staying and going.
