Villa I guess the surprise package but have carried on from a great second half of last season once they got a decent manager 😆
Surely if Arsenal and West Ham lose to their German opponents then it looks unlikely?

You tell me, but ok then maybe it’s a top 4 thing then.
Anyways I fancy Arsenal to go through.

Not if City, Liverpool and Villa go through.
My understanding is that extra points are gained for progressing to the next round as well as for actual results so if an English team win the lesser 2 tournaments (which IMO Liverpool and Villa will) then that should get us past the German points total.
Remember England are Gernany are virtually level at the moment.

What’s with the attitude my boy
17 less than Spurs, 18 less than Villa.
United's GD won't be enough to carry them over the line if they finish the season on the same points.
That's assuming United don't string a run of 8-0 victories together between now and May.
I really fancy Liverpool to win the Europa and Villa are cast iron fav for the conference league.
Top 5
City
Arsenal/Liverpool
Spurs
Villa/United
5th place gets top 4 this season though doesn't it, so you can still get top 4 if you finish 5th?
Can't believe no one has mentioned this.
How are Italy top? England have more teams in the knockout rounds of the three competitions.
We have some tough games so definitely not going to be easy. Liverpool and West Ham away aswell as Arsenal and City at home. Can see us losing all 4 of those. Getting 4 points from those would be a good return.
Honestly don’t care either way about the champions league. I guess I’m in the minority but coming fourth and qualifying for a competition that you’re not going to win is no mark of honour. No clubs honours list had ‘came fourth and qualified for the champions league’ on it. It’s just a money spinner for the boards and tv companies, who unfortunately because of that, place it above real honours like the fa cup. It’s a real shame in my book.
Any one else think five is too may? Takes the edge of the title race a bit for my money…
I hadn't realised until one of the podcasts (think it was the Extra inch) pointed it out that we've only lost 2 Prem games when VDV has started and one of them was the Chelsea match where he went off injured.
It's essential that he's fit enough to play straight after the International break.

100% agree, club owners want to be in the CL for ££££ and fans would rather win something. The expanded CL is for one reason and one reason alone, it gives UEFA more games to sell the TV rights for and thus even more ££££. Watching Real or City play Clunchbucket United from Moldova (or whatever) doesn't get me into a fever of excitement I'm afraid. The chances are that you could name 6 out of the last 8 that will be in next years CL Quarter Finals right now, so nothing will change except UEFA and the clubs make even more money.

We came close to winning it. Are you saying you got zero emotion out of that cup run? The Man City Game? THAT night at Ajax stirred nothing inside of you? I know we lost the final, which was rubbish, but you've got to be there to win it. I really don't understand this attitude of 4th is pointless. It's the minimum aim for each season so there's nothing wrong with achieving it. Only one team can come top and we're not that good yet.

I would say 2 is about right, but actually think 4 is too many. Fewer places for the CL would make the other competitions more meaningful etc, a case of less is more, but it's all about money rather than what is good for the game
