Leeds now 7/2 not to be promoted on Skybet

one of the reasons I'm not a fan of gambling (York Races for the day out aside), is because the odds are just a reflection of the betting pattern... Leeds win 11 or 12 in the bounce people lump a boat load of money on them, the odds get shorter and shorter.

which seems obvious, but its rarely actual fair odds as to a realistic chance.

I've only ever placed one bet in my life apart from the lotto, and that was on the Grand National a long long time ago, I backed a horse called Irish Tony, I only backed it because my dad was irish and it had his name!..

It fell if I remember rightly at the 4th fence, or there abouts!.

Not bet sinse and don't intend betting now!.

If there was only 1 place up for grabs, id fancy Leicester to nick it. But with 2 available, it really does look/feel that it will be us and one other. Ipswich have Norwich away, Saints face Ipswich so both teams can't win that. Cov away and Hull at home might be tricky, but we look bailed on for top 2 imo. In our hands for sure

But feel abit smug, sat on £100 betting slip with dad at 7/1 🚎

To be champions

If this was the Premier League, I would put my house on it as they only play 38 games in a season, and guess who's top after 38 games?
However, if there is any team that is capable of defying the odds in their favour and sntaching defeat out of the jaws of victory, it is Leeds United. I can name at least 10 events since 1970 when that happened but I won't. And I certainly won't be putting money on us to get promoted.

"Value" considering betfair exchange has us slightly greater than 1/3 to win promotion

That makes two…but I left as the quit while you’re ahead type!

Many years ago I walked into a branch of Coral and put £10 at 6/1 on Michael Bridges to be one of the top three scorers in at he Premiership.

Took my cash and have never set foot in a bookies again.

I think we are going up. And definitely more likely to go up than not. But also think 7/2 is actually good value and a much better bet than backing us to go up given that there’s no money in that. Wouldn’t take much of collapse from us to blow it and we all have so many memories of that happening.

Also, is that promotion or automatic promotion?

Skybet have us 1/6 for promotion and 2/7 for automatic promotion.

I did look out of interest. £500 payout on a fresh skybet account so about £16 profit to be made

I’m pleased to say I haven’t got a clue what you’re on about 😁.

Betting is a mugs game and there’s only ever one eventual winner.

agree Light... like I say, I'm not adverse to the odd visit to York Races for the day out, take a few quid that you can afford to lose, eat and drink and swan about looking like Reggie Kray for the day.

In the late 1960s I saw Reggie Kray at Ascot….
he was easy to spot wearing sunglasses and carrying
an axe….he was swanning about looking like a
Spanish Italian.

That day by the way when I spotted Kray, at Ascot, was muggy and sunny, with heavy showers…I took cover under a tree by the paddock and became aware that there was another figure at the other side of the tree…it was the great Denis Compton, great cricketer and played for Arsenal…he was carrying a bat that he was auctioning for charity…I was just glad it wasn’t an axe!
