Why have they changed the colours of our national flag anyway? Does anyone know? Literally first I’m seeing of this
----------------------------------------------------------------------
In a post on X on 18 March, Nike described the redesigned flag as "a playful update to the cross of St George" which "appears on the collar to unite and inspire". A Nike spokesperson told media outlets: "The England 2024 Home kit disrupts history with a modern take on a classic.

Just a playful update. Some people don't like change butfairplay to Nike for trying something new. The English flag has been used by far right idiots and they have tarnished it somewhat.

I'm sure Nike will correct it on the next kit. People are far too outraged now adays over small details.

Doesn’t seem to be a reason given there tbf lol just that they wanted to do it and Therefore did. Also wouldn’t say fair play to Nike for trying something new, anyone can change a few colours. It’s just random.
I’m sure people will get over it though and not sure why people are so upset. Just all seems a bit random to me
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The gammons will be outraged the most 😂. And Nike are getting all this free publicity.

It's weird the FA signed it off but it's just a flag at the end of the day.

I can't wait for the Welsh Dragon to be replaced by a penguin or the Irish Tricolour to have a couple of extra stripes.

It just seems odd to change the colours of a nations flag on a national football shirt for a international tournament

Maybe it’s a Nike thing and they are doing this on all the international shirts they design

Anyways folk will either buy it or they won’t.

My 19 year kid goes to England games and has the shirt from the last World Cup. He seems to think it’s looks alright however bloody expensive so not purchasing for now.

Do people really care about changing the colour of the flag for a kit?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Because it's not the English flag unless it's a red cross on white background.

Give the contract back to Umbro.

One of the first things I thought when I saw this new kit was that the 'playful update on the flag' reminded me a bit of the 2011/12 kit with its little multicoloured crosses.

As the article says, there wasn't a big fuss then.

I personally just look at it as a design feature. It's not like they're proposing a change to the actual flag.

The cries of ‘woke nonsense’ are hilarious when you look at the reason for the kit design.

Conservatives weren’t as snowflakey in 2011 as they are now. They’ve gone soft.

It’s not like the flag has ever been a main part of England kits anyway. Most don’t have it.

Yes, I do think I'd feel differently if kits always had the national flag on the back of the collar, and this time they'd just added some other colours to it.

That would feel like a change to the flag, whereas I'm not sure that this is. It's not even sitting on a white background so how can it be the flag?

posted on 22/3/24

It’s just a pathetic thing to get worked up over. I don’t think the St. George’s cross enhances the design of England kits anyway as the Three Lions has always been a much better crest for the team.

What I don't like is the fact that Nike have some of the worst designers, playing about with the most laughable of designs ,purely for monetary gain !
and so many suckers fall for it !

Nike is an American thing, they see something that's not American enough they'll change it to the way they want it!..

Make America great again, changing flags off the world isn't a bad start!..

You think Nike were allowed to sign off on this without approval from the FA?

posted on 22/3/24

Now we have the DFB changing over to Nike from Adidas in 2027, and many people are not happy with that ! can you blame them ,it's the old story ,it's all about the money and American control .

The Germam DFB and the English FA are not interested in the fans ,only the money and self glorification.

I mean who is actually spending £85 on it anyway. I see it as a bit of a non issue for that reason.

Hey Nike, try changing the colours on the American Stars & Stripes, see what happens then.

£125 if you want the proper 'match' version and not the 'stadium' replica version.

It is nothing short of scandalous.
