I am not sure about that. What could he have done different?

Score more goals than the opponent when it matters
Southgate doesn't score goals. Just picks the players the media are clamouring for and they mess their pants. Foden was absolutely anonymous playing on the right, unlike when he plays for City in the exact same position. There was no recycling of the ball from him and Watkins and so no build up of pressure.
I suppose you can be critical of Southgate of giving in to media pressure to pick the players they want. Just like managers in the past of constantly selecting the golden generation they anointed.
Sure if England go gung go there will be many games won. A decent opposition will exploit it though. It’s not the answer
England won’t win anything without Saka and Kane. They’re comfortably our two best attackers.
Southgate does not impress me as someone who could INSPIRE any team or any player!
Safegate won't change his ideology now. The supporters who might be holding out for hope, that he'll throw caution to the wind on perhaps his final tournament are just delusional. This is Safegate, his mindset, who he is as a character. Tactically useless in game management. A safe cautious man infront of the camera for the time we live in.
We'll crash out in the semi finals. Then hopefully he'll get the Utd job🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Southgate's style of play is contrary to the ethos of Utd. I just don't rate him as a manager. Totally non-inspirational and too defence-minded.
Do a swap between Pep and Southgate so England can win something and Utd can top Man City.
