Does it really matter who's the manager it's what he has to work with that might be the problem

Partly true giggsy. Sanchez had roughly the same pool of players and he worked wonders. Nigel just lost the dressing room and the players didnt want to play under him in my opinion.

And that is whats wrong with nearly all players now they don't want to be told what to do

Our player pool is better than that of a lot of teams who are doing better than us, eg. Faroes, Estonia, Iceland, Azerbaijan, Cyprus, etc. I should have thought that was obvious. No, the problem is the manager is not getting the best out of his players. Therefore it is a manager problem.

Perhaps NW is more suited to doing backroom work, bringing young players along, etc. rather than leading the team from the front.

NW has had the job for 4.5 years. That means around 2.5 million in his pocket. Not bad going for a guy who never qualified for anything and who won only 2 of the last 24 games!

His tactics seemed naive at best and his handling of off the field issues like the player eligibility issue with the FAI was woeful!

Lately he has moved torwards blaming the players for the failures, perhaps in a desperate attempt to stay on for a few more months. Thank goodness hes finally going. I suspect hes been pushed. My man for the job would be Pat Rice ex NI/Arsenal. Even though I hold Michael O'Neil in high regard, I feel he doesnt have enough experience just yet.

A new era beckons AT LAST!

To be fair, Nigel's time was up. Whether it was mostly his fault, or poor play by uninspired players, it doesn't really matter. It's results that count.

Also, I think that Mr. Sanchez should show some professional class and keep his mouth shut. If he wants to re-apply for the job that he walked away from, let him do it the right way!

Both correct on your points Giggsy & Globaled. Players dont respect the manager and dont want to dig in when times are tough anymore , but that unfortuately is the sign of the times.

Sanchez did wonders for OWC and raised the profile of the place throughout the footballing world , but i dont want him back. His snipes at NW while he was "in" the job reeked of unprofessionalism and basically sour grapes that he made a mistake after failing at Fulham.

As Shen said Pat Rice is the man or even Brendon Rodgers. Hopefully a new era mate , hopefully.

Who would you guys want to see appointed?

This is bad news about Nigel Worthington.

In my opinion he certainly was doing a great job for me.

Max Mosely next please.

Is there a petition for Nigel to stay that I can sign?

Obviously if Max Mosely turns down the IFA team job.
