We bought a stone a while back for my wife's dad, a Leeds fan of 80+ years, as a memorial. He saw it just before he died, which was special (he was so chuffed). We were down at the ground late last year and where it's sited outside the pavillion, it was barely legible. We went to the club shop and commented to each other that the stones nearer Billy's statue were wearing a lot better. I thought footfall would be greater there, so would erode quicker, especially as these were the first one's laid. Made me wonder if ours were made differently and less durable?
If this is true that the club are looking to replace stones, that's great - saves me writing to them, which I keep meaning to do.
Its the pavillion ones they are replacing. I think that perhaps they felt they could get away with a cheaper job given the football is a lot less down there than at Billys but it is a case of you get what you pay for.
A shame that money is now going to have be used to put right what they scrimped on meaning the stone will have cost double what they should have.
