Often FA Youth Cup winners don’t go on to achieve much in their careers. Pretty decent list from Leeds’ 97 winners here.
Under 18's, Under 21's and on the bench for the last two games, is Charlie Crew that good a prospect?
Yes great news into the final and no reason they can't go all the way now even though they'll be underdogs against Man City at their place, they definitely have a decent chance.... Well done ladsπ

Why is the final being played at Man City? Surely it should be at a neutral ground?
Crew stood out as one of Leeds better players. For around 60 mins I thought he controlled the game for Leeds. Scored a good goal. Doubt he will be available le for Saturday not though as came off injured and was still limping during the celebrations at the end
This City team are meant to be pretty good. We’ve got a pretty special u18s team at the moment and they battered us 4-1 the other week.
There’s no neutral venue for the final, it’s given to the home team based on the draw, I believe.

I think that’s a poor rule. Surely a final should start with an equal position for both teams? One team playing at it’s home ground will have an advantage, so that’s not equality!
Yeah I agree. Not sure exactly why that’s still the case because I’m sure they could find neutral venues. But then I guess it’s not quite the same as a senior team having that advantage as these kids won’t have played in the home stadium that often. Not sure how the fan allocation works, though.
Absolutely fantastic result for the U18s. Very well done to all of them and great for the club too!

Wasn't that due to cramp as he'd put a shift in, a lot of the boys on both teams were struggling at the end of the game.
A bit concerning that the pitch was playing so heavy due to the weather, I thought they had sorted the surface out.

yeah how awful, totally the grounds peoples fault its rained for the last 40 years, thought that ark that floated by full of animals was a little concerning too.

Not sure what the alternative is.
Elland Road? That's the same issue, just the reverse.
York Community Centre? Doesn't have the capacity and is it the kind of venue you would use for a final?
Bramall Lane? Certainly neutral but there would be cost implications and disruption.
Millwall could have argued that it was unfair playing last night at Elland Road, football is rarely fair.
One argument is that the interest and therefore crowd would be higher if it was held at Leeds, I don't think a neutral venue argument would peak crowd interest.
Thought pitch held up well, under bad conditions.
Needs to be two legs, neutral venue wouldnt work, be no crowd
Used to be two legs didnt it ? conditions were poor which didnt make for a good game, it was exciting though, great achievement but apart from Crew i doubt any of the team will progress to our 1st team, what is mad is that Harry Gray could play for the first team tomorrow but cant play in the youth cup because he is too young.

almost like a thorough bred horse the Grays aren't they? - wonder if we'll seen yet another generation of gray make it to the top level, some achievement really.
Eddie, Andy, Archie, Harry.. thats three generations on the bounce (I think)

Harry is a striker isn't he?
Aren't there other Gray's knocking about as well?
Ben Parker is already confused, at one point he said that Charlie Cresswell was on the pitch. The fewer the members of one family coming through the better.

Frank, Andy, Archie/Harry you mean.
Frank/Eddie, Andy, Harry/Archie.. yes Dennis, thats what I mean
I suppose Eddie might have kicked a few balls to them in the garden, not sure what else.
He was there last night, cannot recall seeing Frank or Andy at matches, maybe you're onto something Spanish.
you're something else you Dennis - you knew what I meant, the Gray family in general.
you're not still rattled about this Southampton goal keeper thing are you?

… or indeed Dennis … the ‘right of reply’ is enshrined in these boards ππ
Basically Dennis reckons Southampton keeper shouldn't have punted the ball up field in what he thought was a last ditch attempt for his team to win the game.
bearing in mind 2-2 is no good to them, they're top 6 regardless. A win they're in with half a shout to nick a top 2 spot.
Manager told keeper to get rid,
striker knew exactly what was happening, ran around the back of the Ipswich defence expecting it.
training ground stuff
apparently, Keeper should had held on to it in case it affected Leeds United.
Was it the most accurate of punts?, No.. could have been better.
then how many Ipswich players touched the ball on the break?, how many bobbles around and fell lucky to the Ipswich forward.
from our point of view, its unlucky Ipswich got so lucky, but thats where it ends, can't be putting Southampton keeper fault ffs
