I feel more confident with the "back-ups" than a year ago. God forbid one of Saliba or Gabriel gets injured/suspended, but I don't feel Kiwior is the massive step down that Holding was last year. And, unlike last year when he finally came in, Kiwior has had decent minutes and performed well - albeit at left back.
Partey in midfield, Trossard in attack, Jesus in attack, Smith-Rowe, even Vieira. Maybe Timber will come back as well!

Would Kiwior be your first choice if there was any injury or suspension for one of the CB duo? Other options are Tomi/White with the other playing right back which I'd feel good about as well. It's great that we could go to another level with Timber given what Arteta has said about him.
The bench is certainly looking a lot stronger now which makes it easier for Arteta to manage the minutes of the returnees and not make them play more than they are ready for.

Yeah, especially for Gabriel. White for Saliba with Tomiyasu coming in at RB could work, but Kiwior looked good last season covering for Saliba so no issues with him being first cover for both.

Trossard and Jesus have played a fair bit too.

Jesus still looks half pace. Trossard been the best sub we've had for years. I wonder how far Martinelli is behind.
There aren't many games left so there is that. But I think it was very telling how quickly Arteta got Saka off the pitch after we scored the second.

Has to be a lefty playing Gabby's side really. No doubt Kiwior will would be in for him (God forbid anything happens to either him or Billy Saliba!)
