It's really strange how the elite can vilify the poor whilst doing whatever the hell they want
———
I mean, it’s not strange. It’s political elites have behaved since the dawn of time.

Really, well I know a Universal Credit couple, early 30`s, 4 kids, they can afford luxuries like both being able to chain smoke, he starts drinking tins of lager at 9am, they have regular takeaways, run a car, both have smart phones, both can afford to cover themselves in tattoos, they take a holiday every year, they can afford to keep pets and they spent their first cost of living payment on a cheap hot tub, which fits in nicely with their fancy BBQ, they can afford branded groceries (no Aldi or store branded items here). They spend all day watching TV, surfing their smart phones, drinking and chain smoking, all courtesy of the tax payer. They enjoy just as many luxuries as many people who work full time, and neither of them have done a days work in their lives. They are career scroungers and basically a baby factory.

++++

How is being able to drink from 9am all day whilst chain smoking, constantly watching daytime TV, whilst scrolling on a mobile phone and covering yourself in Tattoos and sittting in a cheap hotub whilst eating greasy takeaways everyday, in anyway, part of a 'luxury lifestyle'.

Its sounds like a horrendous way to live your life and is probably an actual death sentence.

These people need more help not less help. Thanks for highlighting this enforced social injustice.

It's a load of rubbish. There's a benefit cap of 25k, and that includes housing benefit. I'd love to see how someone manages to do all this and pay rent on 25k.

I just checked a benefits calculator. If I lost my job I would only be entitled to £368 a month. How are people surviving on that I don't know.

Its because the working poor people that they resonate with are not very bright and believe whatever they're told or read with little critical thought.

People like Culer for example.

This. I am fortunate to have never being in receipt of any benefits in my life. But I have very close friends and a brother who works for the civil service. There will always be a small portion of chancers that work on the side and get benefits. But in the main anyone receiving top rate disability allowance plus what we else they get, would still be on less than the UK average income.

Well leave then if you don't like it. An international business man like you, Vistage Chair and Crypto Investor

I’m sorry but can I just clarify something for you all:

- if you break the law and are convicted of doing so it is because there is sufficient evidence of you committing said crime. If you are not convicted of said crime it is because there was insufficient evidence to be convicted

- this does not change for whether you are poor or rich outside of being willing and able to have legal representation to argue your case for you. Granted the average person cannot afford a ‘Mr Loophole’ style barrister but this is unlikely to be innocent parties here.

- name me a better country for their legal system with justification and I will bow to your justification. Until then, please be quiet.

He is right that we cannot carry on with the numbers that we are taking in. Where his post lacks content is by asking why consecutive governments for decades have applied the same policy and/or lack of enforcement:

Here’s some further ideas for you to contemplate:

- mass immigration (not exclusively) brings in cheaper labour. This keep wages down which allows business to thrive. It also increases the head count of the country and thus improving the national economy in terms of GDP.

- now look at the UK economy ranking the world, then look at it per capita.

This is why it is allowed to happen, this is why it is amusing that many supporters of mass immigration then moan about wage stagnation, the housing crisis but fail to acknowledge any correlation

There is no way in hell that the numbers we have seen since 1997/2004 through to today continue to make sense without disastrous consequences; well here they are.

People really do need to start looking at things from a more macro perspective and also asking themselves why people (governments) do what they do. There’s always a reason

This is why I detest the current ‘Conservative’ government because they are nothing of the sort.

I think Sat Nav is auditioning to stand as your Reform Party candidate at the General Election Culer.

Can you use your influence and fix it for him?

I think there’s merit in that argument, Sat Nav, if you were to believe that a change in immigration policy would make a change In government and corporate policy towards wage and living costs in Britain. It sounds too much like allowing the market to dictate, when really their policies are dictating the market and using this immigration policy to exploit workers and keep others angry about it at the same time.

There’s a sensible discussion to be had about immigration and its uses, that go beyond the culture war bullshiiiit we seem to have been dragged into. Unfortunately, we don’t seem to have a sensible enough political elite, media establishment, which consequently leads to an electorate, that can really have these discussions to try and reach a resolution that is best for the country.

Fair point and I would, sadly, have to agree. They would probably find other ways to keep that status quo going.

What fcks me off the most is that there are no genuine alternatives. Starmer Labour or current Tories they’ll both do the same sheeet and most of us will continue to suffer.

I agree that their policies are forcing the market to dictate reality for us all. All of these things come with pros and cons, ‘we’ benefitted so much from the cheap labour. I suspect that the political elite thought something like ‘ok we’ll get cheap labour in and upskill our indigenous population so they will do the mid-jobs after going to uni (referencing the big push for us all to go to uni) and everything will be great. Problem was uni and many uni degrees were useless so we have a load of people unwilling to do entry level work at £18k a year but many immigrants more than happy to.

It’s the bed we’ve made after decades of policy that have become dependent on outside economic forces.

I think there’s possibly part of that thinking regarding education, however, it was half arised and then was still at the mercy of private interests. As there’s been a clear failure in giving university level graduates the opportunity to become the best in class. Whether that’s at entry level or otherwise, there’s a lack of reward culture that has led to many people not getting the careers their education promised.

And if you want to bring it back to immigration, there’s more of an argument that it’s been detrimental to the middle class and university educated working class than it is unskilled British workers, because the former have found career opportunities a lot harder recently to give them the economic security that uni had always promised. Of course, immigration isn’t the reason for all of this, but I’m sure you understood the point.
