Not sure anyone can argue past Pep.
Would have been fascinating to see what Ferguson could have achieved in competition vs Pep, had he been 10 years younger, and he’s the only person who comes close from a PL perspective.
Ancelotti is a funny one. Sometimes it feels as if he’s better at winning European trophies than national leagues.
Mourinho certainly up there.
I think they’d be my top four. Not much thought gone into that though.
Pep. As well as his trophies he's influences the game more than any other manager in recent years.
It's Pep for this century so far, no question.
Probably goes:
Pep
Mourinho
Fergie
Ancelotti
Klopp
That would be the top 5 more or less.

Pretty much bang on Fergie was the last of the old school managers and today's players would have found his style perhaps tough? But he was smart enough to adapt so aye, would love to have seen him nowadays
Maybe it's too early to say? Most lists above reflect the managers who have won the most, but when we look back on this period, perhaps we'll have the benefit of seeing manager X was effective when given incredible playing resources but not adding so much value on top, whereas another manager may have been more significant. Bielsa, for instance, is second division in terms of CV but hugely influential when it comes to his ideas and innovations. Fluminense manager Fernando Diniz has been developing crazy tactical ideas from the point of view of post-Guardiola positional play orthodoxy. Hard to say now whether that's a curious regional quirk or the next revolutionary shift in the history of the sport. Either way, I suspect we're all going to be a bit Prem-centric and Eurocentric in how we see this.
It’s Pep or Fergie.
I’d 100% say Pep. Ancelotti also up there.
But we don’t really look back at managers in the past who were less well known or successful do we?
Michels, Saachi, Busby, Pasley, Herrera, Stein etc all won the biggest trophies and competed at the top.

Well, we don’t if we’re asked which manager has been the best this century, no.
Talking of managers, just saw this from Luca Toni about LvG.
"He has a bad temper and he approaches players the wrong way. He's a dictator, except with his inner circle of Dutchmen. One day he told the team "you don't have the balls that I have," and he took down his pants. But he had a big belly, so we couldn't see the balls."

Gotcha
Klopp isn’t in the top 5 and possibly isnt top 10 either. What he has done is impressive and he’s left a big legacy.
However the likes of Mancini, Heynckes, Del Bosque and Wenger are ahead.

Pep is an amazing coach and tactician but he has never done anything ground up just always been in the money power seat, it will always leave that question which Fergie has answered, Busby, Shankly, Paisley, Jock Stein it’s a much bigger list with many missed out and all at different times of money and circumstance, football is just blessed to have witnessed all including Klopp he would have been a massive success at United as would have Pep.
Pep and it isn’t even close.
People are quick to forget Luis Aragones, but he revolutionised Spanish football
Why is Seedorf always overlooked as one of the all time greats? An absolute phenomenon.
Pep
Jose
Fergie
Ancelotti
Wenger
Klopp
Pep no doubt first.
Franko
Why does a manager have to have made their way up? Pep took over Barca B and showed enough to take over the first team and was proven right.
I'm biased, but Fergie because of Motherwell and Aberdeen, and of course, us.
