Ashely cole

Yes cole has been poor by his standards, don't think he's been awful but because we all know the level he can play too, it has looked as though he's been terrible. Bertrand has potential and can put pressure on Cole, but i honestly don't think he's ready to start. He's good defensively, but his attacking needs a lot of work, partly because he hardly gets forward. Can't see him currently fitting into Avb's system of fast attacking full backs

Have to agree with you actually, he is still one of the best in the league however, yet again, the only real competition is Baines and Evra

I'm with you in giving Bertrand more game time

I wouldn't mind seeing Bertrand start because he is good defensively. I would be more wary starting PVA espiecally against a half decent team because he'd be ripped apart at the back. But I agree with OP. I hope Bertrand is allowed to pressure Cole like the midfielder's have done with Lampard as I think we'll then see better, more adventorous performances from both - Bertrand will finally have a chance of starting with us while Cole will have his position under threat for the first time in years

I have to agree with Don Mata.
Inasmuch as Bertrand is good defensively, it still isn't good enough, simply because his attacking game is not good or non-existent!

AVB prefers wing-backs to the usual 'full-backs', hence; his interest in Peirera of Porto.
PVA is a better option for the LB position, because he offers more going forward.
PVA's defending is not as good as Bertrand, but that doesn't mean he can't defend...like some people are over-exaggerating!

I would have loved to see Bertrand given the chance to shine, but I just can't really see it happening, because he just doesn't know how to attack.
Whenever I see him play, it looks as if he is scared of going forward and losing the ball...he just doesn't have the attacking instincts, which would have made him the ideal replacement for Cole, and because of that reason, I think PVA stands a better chance of being Cole's successor.

I prefer defenders who can defend rather than the ones that cannot.

Based on Chelsea shipping goals every game almost this term Mr Cole has been removed from my fantasy league team
Too expensive for the return i'm getting

Not necessarily an indicator - but he's not setting the world alight
