Just walked past Benson's bar in Dalry and Hearts fans having a party. Singing a version of Sweet Caroline that incorporates hatred for the Pope. What score did they win by today?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm not religious and support a religiously neutral football team. Am I allowed to sing a song about hatred for the pope without it being seen as sectarian?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

If you are religiously neutral then why would you sing about hatung the Pope?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

And do you even know anyone called Caroline?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah she used to run a radio station in the 80's

I’m a Catholic, nominally, and I don’t like the Pope.

Mind you, I don’t like anyone. Except for Richard Ayoade.

The Aberdeen v Celtic semi final was a classic.

The outcome was harsh on Aberdeen, couldn't believe they didn't get the penalty for the CV foul. Not sure it makes a difference in the end as they don't push for a 3rd had they scored the penalty but a tough one for the Tim conspiracy nuts to take.

Got to say the Aberdeen keeper deserves a kick in the nuts, going down when they have a young boy up to take one who has to stand and think about it for an age. He bailed Hart out big time because he was so close to making a complete erse of it the big egomaniac.

Yesterday was a lot less entertaining, we deserved the win but Hearts struggled to create chances and we struggled to take them.

Dessers MOTM was funny. Scored two but he still looked like a big carthorse at times and got his feet muddled up so often except when he didn't and won us the tie. First goal was superb but he tries those twists and turns, clever feet so often it's bound to come off once or twice. Makes a change from seeing it bobble out of his control so we''ll take it.

Im not saying Dessers is the answer, not saying he was motm for me that was Cantwell.

but...

he was a damn site better than Shankland..again

Yesterday was a funny one. I never thought we were brilliant but i also was never too nervous that Hearts had would have the quality to make a real fight of it.

We generally lack creativity. Dessers movement is basic at best. Sima obvs went off injured but you wouldnt even describe him as creative - he is more of a run in behind & finisher. Matondo was simply woeful.

Cortez has been a massive miss for us. He is a ball carrier and a dribbler with end product. Matondo can barely control a ball half the time and his cut inside and shoot trick has a success rate of about one in ten on target.

I would say when fully fit our best front 3 is would be Cortez Danilio and Sima.

We have what we have though and it is never going to be too pretty with what we have available.

I thought whilst Hearts had a couple of decent spells we were the better team and deserved to go through.

I think both teams have shaky defences - Souttar again for me gave up a couple of chances far too easily yesterday. Its just what he does - switches off and get caught out of position.

Aberdeen twice showed how to score against Celtic. Unfortunately I dont think we have the striker with the movement to repeat it or the wide players with the quality to put the right crosses in.

I still think the OF games will have plenty of goals in them - Celtic will be hot favourites now for the league fixture. If they do wrap it up as expected they will go into the cup final on a real high and so you would expect them to be favourites again.

No matter what happens I dont think either of the current line ups of Rangers or Celtic will be remembered overly fondly. Two bang average teams IMO.

Shanklands limitations highlighted again.

I think he would have added to our squad and helped get goals against your Dundees and Ross Counties (which we desperately needed) but his complete lack of pack and mobility makes £5m look way OTT for him.

Think shankland would fare a lot better up front for rangers than Dessers would with hearts.

what a difference it was having a pro active defender in Balogun just dealing with anything that came his way also.

No idea why you persist with Goodson, he’s a bombscare, and handballs it in the box every second match.

Problems on our left hand side of defence were exposed badly on Saturday. Seemed to effect CCV as well as a result of having to cover and looking like he’s not got a lot of trust in Scales next to him. Gives me little confidence going into the run in.

McGregor looks way off the pace. He seemingly needs an operation but wants to wait until after the euros.

Maeda doesn’t give a lot of creativity when he plays, but Yang isn’t cutting it. He seems to have a bit of skill at times, but there’s not a footballing brain in there.

Hearts fans should be asking questions of Naismith-his tactics allowed rangers to have superiority in the midfield and he did nothing to change it. Shankland is incredibly lazy.

Would hope we're planning on getting a new striker in to replace Roofe and it's someone nobody is talking about. A proper striker would make the world of difference to this team.

Welcome back Sam Lammers....no?

I will say on Cortes I liked the look of him but he never played enough for us to fork out the money required and definitely not enough to say he's got a reliable end product but the signs were good.

The turnover in players this summer will hopefully be huge.

McLaughlin, Barasic, Jack, Roofe are all finished up. Balogun too but I'd keep another season as backup. It sounds like Lundstram is getting a new deal but wouldn't be ersed if he didn't. Sometimes good, sometimes schite.

Butland - Will he be staying? I'd be looking at 10m before we considered selling him. At that money we've got to take it to reinvest in a keeper and elsewhere.

Need a new LB to replace Barasic and he's got to be reliable as Yilmaz is a sick note.

A new starting CB to pair with Souttar or Goldson, given we're unlikely to shift either. Balogun to back them up.

Midfield

If you get your money back for Raskin you take it, if not I'd keep him. Poor injury hit season but there's a player in there.

Diomande solid starter.

Dowell and Lawrence squad options when fit.

Need a Jack replacement and possibly one for Lundstram.

WIngers.

Cortes and Sima both worthy signings if the fees are 2-3m range. Not at 4-5m for me.

I'd integrate Hagi back into the squad with him and Cantwell as no10 options.

Need another starting winger and McAusland and Matondo can fight it out for backup.

Up top. Silva although kind of a winger and Roofe are both gone.

Dessers i'd punt if we could get 2-3m but think Clement will keep him going by his comments yesterday.

Need a new striker to join him and Danilo.

Plus got to get rid of Davies, Cifuentes, Lammers and Wright.

I'd be tempted to take a punt on Armstrong of Killie as a squad filler / replacement for Wright. If cash is tight which it probably will be I'd take a punt on McBurnie, he's a free agent and done as well as anybody for Sheffield United.

At the risk of being overly pedantic or even wrong, is Craig Tara not just static vans, and therefore there’s not a lot of towing going on there…

Correct. You are being a pedant!

How did they get there?

On the contrary, it’s full of NI punters. Cutting about talking about the biggest cline in time and that they’re going to kill your daaaaaaah.

I assume it’s like the 12th when there’s an exchange of wallopers by ferry.

That should, of course, be tine. Just doesn’t make sense otherwise.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

The big difference was we took two chances on Sunday.

Rangers had 46 attempts on goal and 12 on target across the Ross CO and Dundee games. All we had to show was a pen and a Ross Co OG.

We had 21 efforts with 5 on target on Sunday - so slightly lower yet scored twice.

We are far from being a great football team and we really lack creativity and quality in the final third a lot of the time. Dessers is a strange fruit in that he has scored a few goals but his lack of quality (along with others) has ultimately cost us the league.

The injuries to Danilio, Sima and Cortez have been huge. Dont think they are world beaters but deffo think they are better than Matondo, Silva, Dessers and Wright who have had to play in their absence.

the game on saturday showed me why its foolish to believe the league is over.

we were very, very, poor. first goal is just a cracking pass, but scales and taylor are a bombscare on that left side.

taylor can't just be wandering off with scales in there, he needs support.

midfield 3 couldn't string 3 passes together, yang is shocking.

iwata on the spot kicks btw, best penalty of the bunch.
