Seems people forgot where we started from.
A fanbase that hated the owners and downbeat on the squad.
A new manager that highest experience was the Scottish league that was having to change the whole identity of the club.
A mediocre transfer window that ended losing our best ever player.
We were literally starting from scratch and done extremely well in dealing with what been thrown at us.
We were never going to consistent enough to get through a season without having blips.
Overall it’s a big step up but it’s only the first one and we need to keep on building on it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Was it a mediocre transfer window? In regards to losing Kane it didn't help but in terms of what we spent and who we brought in, we did well. Didn't we spend over £150m in the summer?

Kane aside I thought the business was good but a lot of fans were resigned to the fact we were losing Kane anyway and felt we should sell him. I wasn't one of those.
I was happy we filled some necessary positions in the squad with a new keeper, CB, and creative mid. Maddison was a very good signing and one I was excited about and many of us didn't even think we'd end up with him after interest from elsewhere. Those players alone were about £100m, then we also spent a lot more to secure Kulu and Porro.
Windows should always be properly judged when you get to see the players and from that I think we can all agree our signings were good overall.

My expectation when we lost Kane was 5th. Always thought Ange's system would have to replace his goals rather than anyone player.

VDV awesome
Maddison pretty good
Johnson ok
Dragusin - hard to tell.
Werner - what you’d expect.
Sold the arguably best striker we’ve ever had
Doesn’t matter how much money we spent. Whether it’s 100mil or 300mil, are we better than last season? Yes we are. Are we making ground up on those above us? A little bit.
This summer is massive - again.
We all know how it’s going to go.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I always thought we were going to be better than last season. Hard to be worse. With the benefit of no fixture congestion, a new manager playing a fresher attacking style, the new players that had come in, it did feel already from that alone we'd be moving in the right direction. With the lack of fixtures from no Europe and going out of the cup games early, I don't think we'll have made the most of that opportunity by finishing 5th.

Now that Ange, Paratici and Lange have had more time to prepare, without the distruption of Kane, I expect it to be more successful than last summer.
But the success or failure of the window when it closes shouldn't just be judged on incomings but outgoings as well. Got to get rid of the majority of loanees as well as the trimming the current squad.
Would be really good if Levy brought in a new invester who could inject an extra £100m-£150m or so into the first team.
Big ask with your run in, however ye will get 6 points v city and Arsenal
We aint getting 4th, not with our run in and ability to concede goals, we are almost certain of making the Europa though.
As always, a big summer ahead and it will be interesting to see what squad Ange will have, next season is the season to judge him and there needs to be some improvement.

Investment is key no doubt but investing in quality and the right players is more important. Levy has invested a lot but sadly for a club our size there are too much dead wood out on loan. Some in the current squad also not up to scratch .
Doesn't 5th place get top 4 in the PL this season or can that no longer happen?
Small steps.
Oblivion to Europa will do us just fine.
Not ready for the big boys yet.
We need to appreciate our standard/place and aspirations to progress. If we skip a step, we can come tumbling down.

You've outspent every team in Europe outside the PL, other than PSG.
To suggest that you can't compete with the likes of Galatasaray is a reflection of the failures of the club and lack of ambition of the fans.

No, it is a reflection of realism.
Don't want to be in a competition to be an also ran. Get in Europa and try to win it.
Then, to infinity and beyond!

When have spurs come close to winning that either? It really should be a realistic ambition for Spurs as it is with teams that spend a tenth as much such as Sevilla, Villarreal, Porto etc
What timeframe do we use for your spending arguments Barry? And does it only count towards only transfer fees?

Agree with everything here......read great for grate!
Would add that Solomon was promising before he disappeared.
Timo Werner is not worth his place.
Richarlison is one big question mark.
Maddison, Porro, vdv, Romero, Sarr deserve their places, and Son of course.
as for the rest, there are some question marks, including Kulusevski.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
A inexperienced unknown GK
A good but inexperienced CB
A top AM but known to be inconsistent
A unproven young RW & LW
A young Cb & ST we ended loaning out.
Selling out 30 plus goal a season striker
Did the players turn out better than expected yes but at the time everyone thought it was meh
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Kane aside I thought the business was good but a lot of fans were resigned to the fact we were losing Kane anyway and felt we should sell him.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You gave it a 6/10 with Kane being sold
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Vicario has turned out well.

Well I knew Vicario was going to be grate. I'm actually a bit disappointed in BJ, I thought he'd be more effective. Also Bissouma. Very meh after looking like Brighton Bissouma for a few weeks. Sarr has been the biggest surprise of the lot for me. I thought he'd barely play and he's become an important first team player
I think the whole AFCON/Asian Cup, tons of injuries spell really facked our momentum. It's been a weird one
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agree with everything here......read great for grate!
