Well I hate to give some credit to Southampton here but I can’t think of many teams we’ve played that have rolled over for us like this
They are in many ways the perfect team for us. They don’t press, play out from the back, give up huge amounts of space, don’t man mark - we can do what we like

Wooooooooooo!!
Two things to note from tonight.
1. Southampton were terrible and played entirely into our hands. But we took advantage. Our high press was great and caused them issues, and we took advantage of the acres of space afforded to our midfield.
2. Finally a bit of a tactical change from Maresca. For the last two games we’ve mixed up slow build up with direct balls through to our strikers off the shoulder which has made teams have to think!!! A bit of alternation so we’re not predictable.
Get in. We’re nearly there.
I think we’re still a very good counterattacking side when we want to be. The pace we have upfront really lends itself to that. It’s a shame we have a ‘coach’ who has focussed so much on sucking the life out of the team with a very one dimensional type of football.
We look far better when attacking with purpose - mixing it up as Mersey says and looking to both build up the play and make incisive passes

Absolutely. It definitely looks like a tactical tweak the last two games. Let’s hope it continues because it’s clearly more effective in an attacking sense and plays to our strengths as you say 99.
I’d go as far to say it was exhilarating; such a contrast from the tedium we have had to endure for most of the season. It does seem a bit bizarre to say that considering we’ve been top of the league for almost all the season!
Fantastic performance, totally at odds with the dross we've had to endure for most of the season. Is there hope yet or will this prove to have been a false dawn?
Oddly enough it was the last couple of games that were worrying me rather than this one - we will see soon if this is a genuine resurgence when we travel to Deepdale.
