Interesting choice, where has he been managing since UTD? Not really followed what he has done since.

Xavi staying at Barca too, so we might have a bit more luck if we do decide to switch managers.

He’s managed Austria which was the ‘reason’ he turned down a director job at United, and he’s qualified them for the Euro’s.

ah yea, i remember now. Will be an interesting season if Alonso stays to battle it out, which seems likely.

I saw him as more of a DOF type guy rather than manager, so seems a strange choice.
He has a way better chance of being successful at Bayern, but it still seems a strange appointment to me if it happens.
Choosing him as interim manager for us was never going to work - he's more of a long-term coach, rather than an inspirational short-term appointment.

There's a strange dearth of top managers lately and a shiiiitload of vacancies.

At this rate, Warnock is gonna get on someone's shortlist.

The issue at United is at the moment there is a cultural of failure top to bottom and failure is totally acceptable at all levels.

I worked for 4yrs at a sporting team which is considered one of the best in the world in their sport. There was a culture of winning from the people out there trying to win in front of the world to the dinner lady in our canteen surviving you your lunch.

Every single meeting had a focus no matter what part of the business you were in you had a sense of what I do here in day admin has an impact on the field.

Until United get that back no manager in the world will do any better or worse than the last 3-4 imo

Looks like they want Alonso in 2025/26 season so he is a stop gap.

Walking into that mess was hardly reflective of his managerial abilities.

United fans, being wrong about a manager or player? As if.

Were we wrong about him

I never blamed him for anything really. The guy had an absolutely impossible task.

How do you know Utd's dinner ladies don't have a winning attitude?

Bloody hell! Kane's gonna win no trophies there at this rate!

How on earth is Ralf "our most banter manager"? He was an interim appointment with a longer term view to moving upstairs and helping steer the club back on track.

His signing wasn't a bad idea, and he stood little chance of doing anything on the pitch with the players at his disposal (as he came out rather bluntly and said!). It's a shame that Austria came calling and we didn't get his expertise upstairs.

A lot of eggs in one basket for a manager that half of Europe will probably be after.

Don’t think Ralf was ever likely to show much of his managerial ability when he took over as interim coach, it was a pretty impossible job. It’ll be interesting to see how he does at Bayern, I read that he wants control over transfer if he gets the job which is unusual at Bayern but maybe they need an older head who the players can respect (not that he seemed to get that at United) and give them freedom to play to their strengths.

Ralf was right with what he said about our squad , it’s a shame he never stayed on as planned because I think that’s where his strengths lie. But knowing us had we kept him we would have still messed up but he would have surely done better than EtHs choices.

Really strange appointment, might as well keep hold of Tuchel and move Ralf upstairs. Ralf is not a manager, he won't last a season there.
