If we lose this one and get a hammering then it further diminishes the positivity drawn from this season. I think we'll finish the season ok given the fixtures but if we don't and it ends on a sour note, then it really isn't much of a good season at all, let's be honest, even if we wrapped up 5th place.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s not been a good season, but it’s not been bad either. The football has been better, we’ve bought well, others have improved and only a few have regressed.

Get a result against Arsenal, secure 5th and go again in the summer - it’s a 6/10 and I am happy with that this early in the Ange era. The key will be us making clear progress next season - if we don’t then questions will be asked
----------------------------------------------------------------------
For me the season can be as high as a 7 out of 10, and be as low as a 5/10. It depends how we finish this season off. We conceded 63 goals last season and it was our worst defence in quite some time. We're currently on 49 goals conceded with Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and City to come, so if we end up conceding close to what we did last season that would be pretty dreadful considering we ditched Sanchez and Dier and seem to rate our new keeper and centre back pairing.

Strike - I'm sure you said just before the Bayern game that we'd get 3rd place and get knocked out of CL - think you also said at start of season that we would be back in the top 4 struggle and not challenge for the title.

Obviously you were correct about the CL predication but do you honestly still think we are somehow fluking our way to a title challenge AGAIN? You do know that in life things change and that just because we showed a weakness in the past to pressure doesn't mean it will happen forever?

I mean if nothing ever changed in football then the first winners of Div 1 in 1800 and whatever would have remained the Royal Engineers or Preston North End or whoever it was until the end of time.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi Dan, yes I did say those things. I think you will be 2nd now with Liverpool imploding, otherwise I think I was more or less spot on.

3 things have surprised me about this season:

1. Liverpool imploding, I thought they would finish strong given its Klopps last season. Instead Salah is not the same player anymore and the midfield is not as good as it once was. I also think VVD has dipped a little from his previous elite levels.

2. I have been surprised recently by Arsenal bouncing back from the Bayern and Villa defeats. Last year it was dropped points at home to Southampton and losing to City and the challenge crumbled and ultimately you got done at Forest and that was it. The last 2 results have surprised me.

3. I think this is the big one - I do not think you are better than last year, more or less the same. What has surprised me this year is how weak the Prem as a whole has been - which has manifested in European competition. City, Arsenal and Villa are the only sides with anything to crow about. The fact we could finish 5th in our first year with Ange and no Kane is remarkable. The league is weak currently and even City are not as good as last year, they’ve gone backwards.

However, I do suspect you will drop points to either us or United and that will ultimately cost you. That weakness remains, you didn’t lay a glove on Bayern away from home, scraped past Porto and had a wobble over Xmas. The home defeat to Villa meant you surrendered the initiative in the league as well.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well appreciate the response although I'm not sure how being 50% right means you were 'more or less spot on'

I've watched every arsenal game this season and we are a more rounded team that a year ago. Much tighter in defence with more of a physical presence due in the main to Rice and a maturing CB partnership.

The only 2 weaknesses that i can see is our lack of a proper striker and lack of depth which means that players such as Saka, Odegaard and Saliba can't be rested without a major impact on performance.

Think saying league is weaker is probably correct and there is a lot of deadwood near the bottom. However, us, City and Liverpool are all pretty good and would give most prem teams throughout history a decent game. For example, we won the title on 78 points in 1998 and have 77 already - this can't all be down to other teams being ropey.

As for Spurs, don't watch you often but your style is one dimensional and although could win you a cup is unsustainable over a 9 month season.

Oh and, taking my Arsenal coloured specs off, Sunday is a draw all day long.

I still think Arteta is a weakness, he makes weird decisions in pressure moments. Bringing Zinchenko in for the Villa game being a prime example - and taking odegaard off.

Your biggest problem though is Pep and City, you have one bad result in 15 and they are ahead of you, it’s just what they do. They are an outlier though, there are loads of Garbage sides in the league currently - virtually all of the bottom half are poor

Yes agree City are an exceptional team (if dull to watch) and if they weren't around Liverpool for example would have won at least another 2 or 3 prem titles.

Next season i reckon Liverpool will fall back as it will take whoever takes charge a while to get them going. Utd and Chelsea are verging on shambolic and you boys aren't going to challenge which leaves Arsenal, Villa and City as challengers.

Unless Villa invest heavily they won't last a full season so think we will be City's biggest challengers (probably 2nd best though) until Pep goes - when we may have a little spell of dominance.

Because of his aggressive personality, Arteta is unlikable to non-Arsenal fans ( i get that) so think that might be clouding your view about him. All managers make mistakes but overall his good decisions far outweigh his bad ones.

Raya replacing Ramsdale, buying Havertz, loaning out Tierney and moving Ben White to RB for example. Anyway Arteta is a divisive character so will always divide opinion amongst fans and pundits. Big fan of his though personally - reminds me of George Graham as he got rid of a lot of big egos and has built the team around young hungry players who do as they are told and don't question his authority. Old school Manager (early Mourinho-esque) but it is working so far.

I don’t care what stage of development we are at. WE DO NOT LOSE THIS FA CKING GAME. Them dropping points to us could stop them winning the league ffs. If ange goes all out attack and we get a drubbing I will be f a cking furious. If those khants of players think their season’s over and they play like they did at Newcastle, it will tell you all we need to know about them and Ange. Nothing would’ve changed at spurs, still the same old unambitious, weak mentality.

I want to see every spurs player at war on Sunday. War. Nothing less. No excuses for team or manager. There is no bigger game in our season than this one right now. We have a chance to stop them winning the league and we absolutely have to take it. If you’re lucky enough to be able to go, I hope you sing you voice out.

The fact that once again that lot are going for a title whilst we’re scrambling around to make money for Enic by scraping into the champions league should be left for another post.

Don’t we make more money than them now or something….

As someone who has always thought the Premier League is overrated. I wouldn't say it's "weak" right now either. European performances were quite poor this season, but I'd say the Premier League's overwhelming financial dominance (which keeps growing) has finally made it the strongest league in Europe. Arsenal were poor in Europe and City were just unlucky against a Real Madrid team they should have comfortable put away with their dominance of the tie.

Absolutely correct. Unfortunately this luka type spends most of their time throwing around insults or other filth. I filtered him after he said he was glad I could no longer afford to take my kids to spurs. He actually said he was happy about that. If you want to read the comments of someone who is happy to publish that about your family, then go ahead. For me, I filtered them so I could enjoy the site without reading such filth.

Glad to debate football on here with any tan with any view. But I won’t allow someone to say things like that luka thing does.

I completely disagree with most things Devonshire spurs posts. But I enjoy reading their views and they put forward a compelling argument. That’s what this place should be all about.

Nah it’s shiete beyond yourselves, City and Pool. Villa are decent - but I think it’s crazy they are the 4th best side in the land.

We lost a generational player and ship goals for fun but will likely finish 5th

United scraped past Coventry at the weekend and finished bottom of their CL group behind FC Copenhagen and Galatasaray. Their manager is derided and their players are mostly average. They will probably finish 6th.

Newcastle have had a casualty list that would embarrass the NHS and finished bottom of their CL group - will finish 7th

8/9/10 are regularly pumped West Ham, second season syndrome De Zerbi’s Brighton and a hilariously bad Chelsea side.

Wolves and Fulham aside, the bottom half are a joke

Demanding our players give it their all in a crucial London derby?

What a bizarre concept!

Luka isn’t a real Spurs fan
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Correct and this site is much better since I filtered the mug. Only person I’ve ever filtered. Horrible poster that has written some disgusting things. Definitely not a spurs fan.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Forgive me as obviously i don't read all the comments on here but surely everyone is entitled to their opinion? Just because someone has a different one - it doesn't mean they are any less of a Spurs fan than you. I mean that DJ bloke who dominates our board gets on my wick but I'd never doubt his Gooner credentials.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Totally agree. Devonshire told me to shut up earlier, but I can handle that, I just put it down to him being a plonker. Generally though he is sound, he just has different opinions to me which is fine.

Luka is a coooock though, he will take any argument that is against yours and then get personal about it.

I’ve only ever filtered him and Tux - a conspiracy loon

Luka is a different breed Dan - he would argue black is white and can have a row in an empty room. He sticks to absolutely nothing, changing his position just for the sake of an argument.

And he lacks the ability to discuss things constructively or civilly, so instead you just get a tirade of pound shop Ace like abuse.

Def not a Spurs fan

You come on here to talk football and because of this Luka type you end up talking about this nonsense.

Ange on #thfc sticking by their style of play: "We've had some inconsistencies this year but when we've played well we've played a certain way.

Some people can't handle the truth and resort to questioning my support for the club. All very elementry for the Karens on our board.

Spurs are constructed to play in a certain way. Do you think they can adjust even if he asked them to play differently?
