As Spurs look for a number 9 for next season among those under consideration are Gimenez, Toney, Guirassy, Openda and Gyokeres.

I'm sure there will be others he hasn't mentioned. Worth noting the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, maybe Villa and Utd
will be looking for a striker as well so plenty of competition.

I'm sure the likes of Sesko or David at Lille will be under consideration as well.

No idea, although I guarantee some kid will pop up during the Euros, have a great tournament and everyone will be like BUY HIM!

it's a good question. I guess anyone we bring in would be new to the prem and take time to settle. May work great or may not so always a risk.

Gyokeres is decent and has EL experience but £60-70m plus is being muted,

Toney would be the ideal one. Proven in the prem, strong, quick, good in the air and with feet, obtainable. Question of whether he fits Ange's requirements and would he want to come as there will be many suitors no doubt. Especially if the reported fee is to believed £40-50m,

I would still test the waters with Ferguson. I've no idea why he's had limited game time at Brighton but his stock won't be any lower. I still think there's a special player in there unless there's some sort of attitude or injury issue we don't know about.

On that Saturday Social show they recommended us going for Joshua Zirkzee. More a forward than striker but looks like he's having a good season for Bologna.

Isak going to Arsenal is what gives us a free path to Toney, or so I've heard. Toney to Spurs is the likeliest of all the options above and frankly I'd be more than happy with that.

Of course he is but bigger and better clubs are in for him. We don't stand a chance. That's why Toney is more our level at the moment. He's a damn sight better than Richy, that's for sure. Of all the realistic striker options we have, he's the only one that could guarantee you maybe 20+ goals each year. I think he'd be a shrewd buy personally plus he's English which helps the foreign allowance elsewhere.

Ive been flip flopping on Toney, one day i think he's the perfect fit with all the right attributes and would really want to grasp this chance and do well, next day i think he has a sucky attitude and doesnt realise the pressure of playing in a team where expectations are high and where he will be far from the best player in the team.

Ive been impressed with Richarlison this season.

Soring at a rate of 2 in every 3 games (based on minutes played) and a goal or assist every 100 minutes. Pretty good in a stop start season.

If we end up in the conference league i'll be stunned if we get any of the forwards mentioned.

Giminez is likeliest as he has visited the stadium several times.

Intruiging cos old big ange prefers someone like Son up top or furahashi not really a unit like a proper centre forward.

I think Ange will have learned that this will not work in the PL unless you have KDB, Foden et al providing the ammunition.

Solanke anyone? Younger than Toney and in terms of goalscoring exploits, his record isn't that much worse.

Along with Zirkzee this is a good shout as well.

Judging by the names on this thread alone, there are plenty of strikers around who are more reliable than Richy and can offer something different.

Tbf there are lots of wingers and midfielders around too.

I see no reason why we can't upgrade in these three areas this summer. We may not be able to secure 1st choice options but the gap between other names on all the list we have, is not that huge.

I'm not sure about Solanke. This could be a one off season. Toney has been producing the goods for longer and as more to his game. He can be a target man but he's also pretty decent with his feet.

The only doubt is what kind of profile Ange wants. Toney looks great at Brentford because he's so good at getting up for long balls and retaining possession/flicking on to teammates, and all of those key strengths would be useless for us.

There's no doubt about it. Isak is more the profile we want but we're just not in the same bracket.

You're dressing those numbers up a little.

He has 11 goals in 28 league games this year.
He had 1 in 27 last year.
His best scoring season ever, when the team was built around him was 13 goals in 36 games for Everton.

He's not a prolific player. Fine, so what else does he bring? You could argue that a player like Jesus at Arsenal or Havertz etc also aren't prolific but they offer so much more than Richy does. If he's not scoring, which is roughly 2 in every 3 games, he's not doing an awful lot. His touch is terrible and he's not a creator.

Sorry, but if we get a decent offer we have to snap their hands off and look elsewhere. Thankfully I think Ange thinks the same way. he's just not good enough.

The numbers are right there in black and white under his career stats...

19 goals and only 2 pens as well. Haaland has had 7 pens for comparison, Isak 5.

I would not be unhappy with Solanke. We know we're not going to find someone who is of the quality of Kane but I think he could do well and with his size and having a few headed goals this season would be a useful addition.

Solanke had been scoring a lot in the Championship before the PL, so to me it looks like it took a bit of time to really get to grips with the transition in quality between the leagues. Happens with many strikers. In a better team, under, hopefully another good manager, I don't see why he can't continue to score the goals.

Maybe there are other strikers who have more to their game but if we get enough creativity around him it wouldn't matter as much.

You could say based on last season Toney is a one season wonder. His stats aren't great and is going through a cold spell. Solanke is hitting his prime years now and has less baggage.
