Is the link I think you meant, and yes it sets out the position in layman terms quite well.
I think the time has come for the European Super League to come to fruition. City can just fack off and play in that league.
If they didn't think the rules were fair, why agree to abide by them in the first place?
The hearing starting today was supposed to be confidential but apparently Arsenal tipped off the Times.
I’m quite happy it’s out in the open tbh
I think now that the court process has kicked off, with the disclosure documents being accessed by more people, we'll learn a lot more about the specifics through the media. Like Melton says, it's going to be an interesting few months.

Some of these other clubs are beginning to see the stupidity of regulations as it stands. If I was in Villa's shoes, I would be livid that the club would need to sell its best players to rivals, due to some ill-thought out rules, even though they've qualified for CL. Same for Newcastle, et al.
I have always questioned why you should need to own a complete colour-group before you are allowed to buy houses from the Bank in Monopoly?
It seems that "thems the rules"
The present hearing isn’t getting the slightest mention in the media.
There must be some sort of injunction in place

Didn't stop Arsenal before...
So hopefully this means there's some headway being made.

Yep. Where the notion of financial fair play is set in a world where there is little fair play in the financial world and where the object is to be bigger and better than everyone else, good luck with setting those lasting rules.

Samuel has always been an outlier in his opinion as a journalist, and it’s refreshing to see there is at least one providing the alternative view.
It’s still an opinion though and it’s one of those where you’ve got a lot of journalists and people within the game commenting on legal matters they have no clue about, just what they’d like to see happen in the hope it validates their own opinion.
In terms of the case itself, we don’t know enough to know either way. The only thing is the fact is it’s a two week hearing shows there’s clearly a valid case to answer. Have to wait and see how it goes, we don’t know what the submission or the main challenge is and neither do most commenting on it.

Agreed... I'm just putting my tinfoil hat on as to whether someone has been leaking stuff to Samuels over the last couple of days as the Arsenal camp did.
I don't get the comparison with wider UK business law but even as a layman there's discrepancies. The PL isn't a normal business in the sense that we know or interact with.
1) You've got an inherited very captive consumer meaning they don't have to worry about ebbs or flows in demand. They can name their price on tickets, merch' etc. It doesn't matter if the consumer comes from down the road or across the world.
2) How do you square relegation in a comparative UK business? Its a competition open by merit of promotion. You can also be expelled on the back of any number of variables. Like when Sheff Utd challenged relegation suing West Ham over Tevez and Mascherano. You can be expelled off a refs decision, bit of bad luck or untimely injury.
I feel this is more about growing fanbase and subsequently revenue and making more money than the supposed closed shop protected by a few clubs. Look from 2nd down and there's an argument the league is more competitive than it was in the days of the traditional top 4 every season.

And I believe that we don't get the comparison either. As you say - "The PL isn't a normal business in the sense that we know or interact with." And there's the issue.
I continue to be surprised that there are no leaks. Still have my tinfoil hat on as to why.
I think we may get leaks next week if one side feels it’s losing the argument
As suspected.
