Rodri was clearly the most important and best City player this season. Position bias and English bias made Foden beat him
But, as you say, there wasn't an outstanding candidate who stood clearly above the rest.
Rodri is easily the best dm the league, foden has a great season though.
Watkins should have won it.
I don’t understand why Rodri is often overlooked for these awards, whether domestic or international. He’s the most influential player in the league. Foden is a luxury player who has come of age but I look at Foden and don’t see a player who’s the difference maker between winning trophies or not. Rodri clearly is.
The hype of English players recently has obviously played a part.
This is the weakest bunch of candidates I’ve seen in a long time.
Sergio Aguero not winning YPOTY in 2012 despite scoring 30 goals in his debut season including the one that won the Title will baffle me to my grave.
Foden donet d-serve it as his club cheeted 2 give him opportunity

No real standout candidate for player of the year but would rank Palmer above Foden.
Take Foden out of that City side and I doubt you'd see much difference in results. Take Palmer out of Chelsea and they'd be lucky to escape relegation!
Would also have Watkins. Rodri, Rice and Saliba above Foden, probably even more than that.
Not to say Foden isn't a great player, just don't think he had a standout season.

I'd have given it to Watkins. More goals and assists than Foden in a more unfancied team. It's secured them CL football for the first time in decades.
I think Watkins would have been a more worthy recipient too, but I also think Foden has been integral to City this season and I doubt they’d be on for winning the league without him. He’s been worth plenty of points and he’s been good to watch too.

He's stepped in for both KdB and Haaland when they were injured in terms of goals and assists.

Yep. It’s like the English hype has come full circle and now he’s getting underrated because he’s English. He is bona-fide world class.
88.8% pass completion over 34 Prem games is insane in that position.
