every league in the world is underated. by fans of the EPL in the most part.
Germany, Italy, France and Spain are all considered "farmers leagues"
looking at this years europ comps the semi finals contained teams from:
Italy - 3
Germany - 3
Spain - 1
France - 2
England - 1
Greece - 1
Belgium -1
Im not saying any of the leagues are on par with the EPL cos they are not, but the jump in difference is nowhere near as big as is made out.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hmm, watching Atalanta vs Liverpool though it was clear Atalanta had the legs and Liverpool didn't, as well as having many more injuries.
For me Liverpool are a far better team than Atalanta, but the intensity of the PL just makes it difficult in the later stages. Would love to see some league vs league stats on the averages for stuff like distance run, sprints, duels etc - I would imagine PL will be top by far.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
so what your saying is that EPL is a kick and run league compared to the more technical and based leagues.
if the other teams fitness isnt pushed the same way as EPL teams then their base levels of fitness will be lower and wont be able to match the intensity of the english game then surely?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm saying Liverpool are a better side than Atalanta.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Without repeating my wum, why were Atalanta better than Liverpool when they played eachother? Why did they comfortably win the final as well?
Just to be clear, you are saying Liverpool are a better team than Atalanta because Liverpool were worse than Atalanta which actually shows that they are better and all PL teams are better than Italian teams because Liverpool lost to Atalanta.
The same Atalanta who are so well rested all season after literally playing every single match in every single competition available to them this season after reaching the final of the Italian cup as well.
Does your leprosy even have a brain??
I think it's too simplistic to look at a season's European results and base it on how strong a certain league may be.
No doubt there will be questions over the EPL after a relatively poor showing in European competitions, but you get the opposite reaction if we have say 3 or the 4 semi-finalists etc.
With its coverage and home-bias, there will also be an over-hyping of the EPL from the media over here, but over the past 3-5 years, I would have City and Real as being above the rest.
Towards the top of the league, there is good strength in Eng, Italy, Ger and Spa, but I feel it is when you go to the next batch of teams that generally Eng seems to have stronger teams, followed by Spa and Italy.
I think the real difference is that in the 80s and 90s Italy and Spa used to be the places to go to, whereas now it is Spa and Eng, but that's maybe more money related rather than necessarily truly quality related.
It is just quite funny how people will argue that it shows how strong the PL is when they have two teams in the semi finals of the CL and EL etc. in a particular season. Which is fair enough.
But then not to just dismiss the strength of other leagues the following season when their teams go far, but to actually say that PL teams going out early shows how STRONG the PL is?
I can't even wum that hard. So impressive.
The faacking Faroe league over here just so exhausted from running about so much that they can't reach a CL final. The players keep launching the ball out for throw ins so people keep having to go into the cow field next to the pitch and chase after the ball. Just so exhausting, shows how strong the league is though and the only reason they aren't going far in Europe. Otherwise they would beat Atalanta.
It is underrated, they’ve been performing pretty well in Europe recently. I don’t think the quality of the players is underrated, however, but the coaches definitely are.
Liverpool lost to Atalanta because they kept missing sitters. They’ve been losing or drawing with teams that they are better than all season because of this.

Think it’s rated fairly, not to the level of the PL or La Liga but probably a level below. Inter ran away with the title but then got knocked out by a very average Atleti in the CL.
I think leagues are just quite different rather than just better or worse and certain players work better in different leagues. Motta’s Bologna seem like the interesting side in Italy at the moment with their radical playing style and systems.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Inter also play some pretty innovative stuff. Love their use of full backs. They also made the CL final last year and gave City a pretty good go, just lack quality in the end (Lukaku missing good chances).
BTW - Atalanta beat one of the PL title contenders over 2 legs. It's a decent league, but very different.

If any league is underrated its Spain. They have a third of the money the PL has but has very similar quality top to bottom, cant seperate them.
After that Germany and Italy I think are similar, i cant seperate them.

Pretty much this, Italians generally like to stay in Italy, but I wonder if any PL clubs will decide to look at Serie A coaches.
Motta and Inzaghi in particular look talented with fresh ideas.
Loved watching Gasperini him on the touchline yesterday. If we're to give City any kind of game on Saturday, we'll need to the show the kind of heart his side did last night.

Yup
Same reason EPL teams struggled in europe
maybe we should appoint strike head of uefa. That way we could change it so that championship teams get in the CL. League 1 can have europa and the conference north can have the Europa conference. Surely will guarantee trophies?

Just to be clear, you are saying Liverpool are a better team than Atalanta because Liverpool were worse than Atalanta which actually shows that they are better and all PL teams are better than Italian teams because Liverpool lost to Atalanta.
The same Atalanta who are so well rested all season after literally playing every single match in every single competition available to them this season after reaching the final of the Italian cup as well.
Does your leprosy even have a brain??

I understand you disagree, all good. I think liverpool are a better side. Extrapolate whatever you want from that.

Liverpool lost to Atalanta because they kept missing sitters. They’ve been losing or drawing with teams that they are better than all season because of this.

If any league is underrated its Spain. They have a third of the money the PL has but has very similar quality top to bottom, cant seperate them.
After that Germany and Italy I think are similar, i cant seperate them.

It is underrated, they’ve been performing pretty well in Europe recently. I don’t think the quality of the players is underrated, however, but the coaches definitely are.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Pretty much this, Italians generally like to stay in Italy, but I wonder if any PL clubs will decide to look at Serie A coaches.
Motta and Inzaghi in particular look talented with fresh ideas.
Loved watching Gasperini him on the touchline yesterday. If we're to give City any kind of game on Saturday, we'll need to the show the kind of heart his side did last night.

every league in the world is underated. by fans of the EPL in the most part.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No one considers La Liga to be a farmers league. Serie A is well respected as well. The German league is seen as too easy to score in.
Outside of those league the step down is faaacking massive. There are some traditionally great sides like PSG, Monaco, Marseille, Lyon, Porto, Benfica, Sporting, Ajax, Feyenoord, PSV, Celtic, Kiev, Shakhtar. But the leagues, position for position are not even close to the Prem.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
results in europe say otherwise, were ranking the leagues not the best teams in the leagues and as europe has shown the gap is nowhere near as big as is made out.
Are Man city miles ahead of the average teams in the other leagues, yes, but they are miles ahead of the average teams in their own league also.
Germanys representation in euro finals shows in the last 5 years they have 2 teams in the finals of CL and 2 teams in the finals of the europa.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The Prems had Spurs, Liverpool, Chelsea Man City, Man United, Arsenal, West Ham in Euro finals since 2019
Italy - Inter, Fiorentina, Roma, Atalanta
Spain - Real, Seville, Villarreal
Germany - Bayern, Dortmund, Leverkusen, Frankfurt
Results in Europe very much say that the English league has dominated Europe since 2019
----------------------------------------------------------------------
they have ben the better teams yes as per what I said. the EPL is the strongest but as I also said the gap isnt as big as made out as you have proven by showing that if they were truly farmers leagues as per the average EPL fans says then they wouldnt have any representatives.
EPL teams are better I dont think anyone would dispute that, but the way some EPL fans talk you would think that Bundesliga and Seria A teams are championship level

True, though. Beating a team in a cup competition doesn’t make that team better. Otherwise Roma are better than AC Milan, and Spurs were better than City in 18/19.

Thanks. Shows how strong the German league is cos Frieburg have to play teams like CL finalists Dortmund and EL finalists like Leverkusen at weekends. West Ham play against teams that get knocked out easily in Europe in their league, so are well rested for the Europa League.

Championship teams are actually better than PL teams these days. It is just that the Championship is so fast paced and physical that when Championship teams play PL teams in cups and the like, Championship teams struggle cos they are so tired from playing higher quality opposition and more fast paced football than their PL counterparts every week.

maybe we should appoint strike head of uefa. That way we could change it so that championship teams get in the CL. League 1 can have europa and the conference north can have the Europa conference. Surely will guarantee trophies?
